We actually had fast cars this years! Benji and Packer both did a good job and Ben helped them get good alignment and weight and it was fun to see them win. Benji was really in shock when he kept winning. He got 1st place!! and Packer got 3rd! I think I’m still in shock. I always prep the boys that they will probably lose and maybe even be really slow and that it’s OK to lose and…

Packer is 8!

Packer had a birthday on Saturday! I can’t believe he is 8 years old! He is a fun and goofy kid. He gets something in his mind and he finds a way to make it happen…. anything from an art project idea to inviting his friends over to play right at 4:00 and they have to play a certain game a certain way or he will not be satisfied. It was fun to celebrate his life during the weekend. We had a cousin party on Friday night and a family day/ play whatever he wants on Saturday. It was fun. Now he gets to be in cub scouts and he gets to be baptized next Saturday. EXCITING to be 8 YEARS OLD!

On Saturday we had 9am soccer games so we waited until after the games to give Packer his presents from us: He had his heart set on one present and luckily we had it covered. He spied the XBOX game size gift and saved it for last – Yes it was MineCraft for Xbox, Yes he is obsessed.

By that night he was TIRED. EXHAUSTED. If it is 8pm his body just shuts down. Literally. On Thursday night he was up late and out of bed and fully collapsed twice before we got him back in bed. Tonight he came out of his room again in Zombie mode. He has to go to bed on time.

We love Packer. He is really growing up this year. Learning responsibility and developing his own personality. He still doesn’t mind being a loner but he also likes to be the silly man. He makes us smile often and we love him tons.

Packer’s 2nd Grade Play

The 2nd grade classes performed a play this year. Each class had their own cast. Packer wanted to be a “Spider Web Holder”. He was very excited about his part and really enjoyed being a part of it. Some of my family were in town on the day of his play so he had lots of support to watch him.

Grandpa’s Haunted Shed

Ben’s Dad invited the Packer age cousins to help him put on a haunted garage this year! He had them dress up and come over the Saturday before to practice. Then on Monday night we got to come over and go through the Spookiness. It was a great family home evening activity. Packer LOVED being involved. He talked about this for the whole month. He hates SCARY so this was good for him to see behind the scenes. It was good for him to get the extra attention.

End of Fall SOccer!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SOCCER but WE HAVE OUR SATURDAYS BACK!

Benji’s team was undefeated. They have been together for a long time now and they are a lot of fun.

Benji is a good shielder and passer. He likes Defense.

Cali is pretty aggressive. They had a young team this year so it was a rough, lose every game season. But She and Mia have fun out there. Cali always volunteers for everything – take a break? play defender? Stay in? – doesn’t matter what coach asks – she’ll says she’ll do it. Go Lightning Crashers!

Look at how close Packer is to the goal! and I was proud of him for going to the middle to wait for the pass. They are learning. I got to go to Packer’s game without any kids on the last game so I got lots of good pictures of him:

Getting to Know Packer

Packer is a good kid. He is my least needy child. He is artistic and project minded and can usually entertain himself. He hates getting up in the mornings – He is so tired when I come in at 7 am and he tells me every morning that he doesn’t want to go to school. But he only says it right when he wakes up and then he gets dressed and eats, combs hair and brushes teeth, loads his backpack and is off to the corner to meet Luca and the kids for school. He is not a big cereal eater like his brother but he does eat. He loved when I made him a Pepperoni sandwich this week. We bought him the Junie B Jones series at the last book fair and it has really helped his reading – he is excited to read and is putting in 30-45 minutes after school now! Packer lost his 3rd tooth this past month. He wrote a very sweet note to the tooth fairy asking her what she does with the teeth. Unfortunately he didn’t get a note back…

1st Day of School

School started yesterday (August 19th)!
Benji and Packer were not ready for summer to be over but they were a little excited for a new year.

Packer is in 2nd Grade. Mrs. Acker is a new teacher at our school. She seems really nice. I hope Packer has a GREAT year. This is the First time that Luca is not in his class with him but they did find each other on the first recess 🙂

Benji is in 4th Grade. He was not excited to go to school BUT he has friends in his class – Seth, Brock and Austin, so that makes it ok. His teacher is Mrs. Durrant.

The boys love walking with their cousins and neighbors. It looks like it’s gonna be a good year!

Fishing with Grandpa

On Friday the 3 oldest kids got to go fishing with their Grandpa and their Dad! They went to Deer Creek and fished from the boat. This was Cali’s first time going. They got a few nibbles but Grandpa Netty was the only one that caught one. The kids weren’t too sad since they had talked about bringing one home for dinner and none of them wanted to do that. They loved the boat and loved the attention.
