    Rapunzel Poster

The kids have been begging to hang up their posters in their bedrooms like they had before we moved… we finally got around to doing it. The boys had Skylander and sports posters and the girls didn’t have as many so Packer went and drew them a Rapunzel Poster and made snow flakes for them! He is still mr project and a good big brother.

Packer Lost a TOOTH! his 1st one!!

PACKER LOST A TOOTH!!!! He was so excited! Dad pulled it out right before school. 2 weeks before this Packer showed us that he had a loose tooth. It was notably loose but that was the last I heard of it. On this morning he asked Ben to pull it out and it came right out! HE WAS SO EXCITED! It’s hard watching all your friends in kindergarten lose their teeth and then half of first grade – it’s funny how anxious they start to get. It was his bottom left that came out first and the bottom right is very loose.

Benji spent the ENTIRE day wiggling his loose tooth trying to make it come out before bedtime so that the tooth fairy could do a double visit. He finally gave up – I think that tooth still has a month πŸ™‚ Packer was so excited to find a dollar and a pack of gum under his pillow. In Fact he was so excited that we had to go to the dollar store the very next day to spend that dollar! He spent it on a blue webkinz hippo πŸ™‚

    Crazy Hair Day

This week was crazy hair day at school for the boys. They both decided to be crazy and shave part of their heads. In years passed they have gone withΒ ‘bed head” and simply not combed their hair that day. Shaving worked well since they need haircuts anyway. Packer had us shave half of his head and leave half normal. That inspired Benji who wanted a smiley face in the back of his head, but his hair is crazy thick so we ended up just leaving the top long.

Now the problem is it’s been 3 days with crazy hair and we haven’t fixed their hair cuts! maybe tonight… or at least before we go to church on Sunday πŸ™‚

    Life with Millie

Thursday was pretty low key. I’m sure we played a few rounds of “war” with cards and maybe got the kids bathed. I tried to get my kitchen under control and I remember Benji SANG his homework for us πŸ™‚ It was actually really funny. He has reading comprehension so he was at the table singing the paragraphs and then answering the questions. Benji had soccer practice. Jamie brought us dinner πŸ™‚ and then I really don’t mind being home bound but I did take off for a couple of hours that evening. It was nice to get out of the house and do a little shopping. I found these crazy sweatshirts that the boys have been obsessed with having ever since their cousins got them. I found them for a good deal and then they had to earn them. Benji had to learn how to tie shoes – he had just never had the motivation – he learned in 1 day once the sweatshirt was there waiting. Packer had to practice his ABC’s and numbers – there are a few letters and numbers that he does backwards so I made him write them a bunch of times to figure it out. I don’t think we are 100% yet but he is getting much better.

Tuesday morning my mom had to leave. It’s hard to say goodbye because she is awesome at “helping”. She just see’s what needs to be done and she does it. Sometimes that is house work, sometimes food or playing with kids… she can do it all. (then i have energy to party with all of the fam that come with her). I missed my nap time and was pretty grumpy in the kitchen trying to make dinner with fussy and fighting kids when Ben got home from work… he’s experienced enough to recognize the situation and jump in and help me. We survived. That night was Dad Time for Packer… he and Ben went to a park and made a collection and enjoyed some one on one time.

The boys were both excited for school to start. They are A track this year so they start at 8:00 and get out at 2:15. They LOVE stopping by the cousins and walking with Luca and Lalo.

Benji and Packer stayed up late anticipating the first day of school. They like to share a bed and stay up talking. They are good friends and I love watching them interact and be brothers. The first week went smoothly and they came home excited each day. Packer is not a big lunch eater but Benji is. This week the homework starts so we’ll see how that works out. All in All it was a good Back To School week!

    Another Bike Rider!

    Packer can ride his bike!!

Packer learned to ride his bike last night!

Packer learned to ride his bike last night!

2 or 3 weeks ago we bribed Packer that we would take him and his siblings to Despicable Me 2 if he learned to ride his bike. The thing is he just wouldn’t even try. He was scared to take the training wheels off and scared to even get on. He watched his siblings and cousin learn but he did not want to fall and get hurt. This is the theme of his life right now. He is scared. Scared of falling. Scared the demolition cars would hurt us. He has this phobia ever since he had stitches on his eye. He often tells me how accident prone he is and tells me all of the times in his life that he has been hurt (which is only 4 times). Anyway, we have had many talks/lectures lately about living life and not being afraid. For the past few weeks Benji has been very anxious for Packer to ride his bike so that we could all go to the movie. He begs him and then they both get upset at each other… Last Night Ben and I had had enough of it. Packer had tried 2 other times, once with Ben and once with me and we knew he was ready so we MADE him get on the bike. HE had the balance down and quickly learned to start and stop on his own.

    apparently I didn't get a good picture

The whole family is excited for him. He is still very nervous and I am going to make sure he gets back on the bike today and tomorrow so he can really get it. He’s getting blisters on his hands from holding on too tight.

This summer 3 of our kids learned how to ride their bikes! I’m not sure if it was the new cul-de sac or just the right timing but either way it is fun to have little bike riders. We are enjoying our last few summer nights!

they wanted to go and they went and they loved it.

    starting the hike

Benji has been wanting to hike up to the Y for quite some time. The Wisconsin cousins came to town and wanted to hike to the Y…. So Ben took our 3 oldest kids and went with the cousins and did a night hike from 8pm-11pm. The rule was that no one could be carried, they had to be big – and they did it!

They were amazed at how big the Y was and enjoyed dad telling them stories about the Utes painting it red and to keep their eyes open for any COUGARS.
