    Student of the Week

Benji came home from the second week of school with this award! He got to go to the BUG lunch with the principal! Benji is a people pleaser and that includes teachers. ย We love how he is always on task at school and we don’t have to worry about him. Whatever the teacher says is law!

Packer got his first homework and he loves it. He comes right home from school and gets started. I love how he wrote so many little S’s on this page and you can see how hard he was trying and how it is really difficult for him to make the letters.

    Packer’s Kindergarten Homework.

Cali is loving school as well. I love that they are so excited and uninhibited at this age. They don’t really worry about being right all of teh time. She ย is pretty young for learning her letters but she is trying.

Cali’s Painting – i almost never do paints at home so it is a treat when they get to paint at school.

One more Benji Award. His teacher had a lot of really nice things to say about him. He is excellent!

    More Back to School Pictures

I like the school schedule. I love summer but taking a break from school is what makes summer so awesome. My kids enjoy school and we all do well with a schedule so I feel like it is a win win situation at our house. We had 3 different first days of school this year so I took a billion pictures and felt the need to post more.

One of the first days that Benji went to school the kids were so excited for him to come home. When they saw him come around the corner they ran down the street and met up with him. I love this picture of the three of them walking home and talking about school:

Home from school! Mom watching from the porch. I love that my kids can walk to and from school!

And because my blogging world stopped on Packers back to school days here are a few more of my big kindergartener…

All lined up! waiting for the teacher! and all the parents on the other side crying and/or rejoicing.

I think he did this pose last year too.

Packer is very sweet and he is STILL loving kindergarten!

    KINDERGARTEN

My blog is having issues… yes Packer I do love you and have been trying to post you starting kindergarten for a full week now. I still can’t post pictures so I’ll post this and keep trying. Sorry world… hope my lack of blogging doesn’t throw you off to bad! ๐Ÿ™‚ at least facebook on my phone is fixed so I’ll add pictures there.

    FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

    so excited!

little kids with backpacks are so cute.

    a little sister/packer love ๐Ÿ™‚

Packer started Kindergarten! He is in Mrs. Crockett’s class. He is very lucky because he is in the same class as his cousin Luca. And our neighbor’s Lucie and London are in his class and have been stopping by to see if he wants to walk to school with them. Then to top it off they sit alphabetically so they are all right by each other at the table! He seems to be enjoying class so far. His favorite is when they actually do projects with markers and scissors – no surprise. Packer has gotten so big this last year. Every time I look at him I think ‘when did he get so big?’ He and Benji walked home from school all by themselves today! (and all the days since day 3) they stay up late in their beds talking about meeting up after school or when Benji waved to Packer at recess when he was on his way to music class. So Cool. Hopefully Packer has a super year in Kindergarten.

Packer and Cali have really been getting into their bikes lately. I love watching them ride and play together. We still don’t have any official bike riders – but I’m thinking that will change next summer.

    Demolition Derby

Saturday night we attended the Salt Lake County Demolition Derby! We look forward to going to the demolition derby. This was the 10th year that we have gone with friends and family. 10 YEARS! As my friend Erika said, “This is the only tradition that has lasted besides Christmas dinner!” This year we went with Sean and Erika, Larry and Megan, Mom and Dad, Pete and Amanda, Matt and Jamie and Karen. We all brought our older kids. Only Benji and Packer for us. It was awesome not having tired kids or babies on my lap. This is where I would like to insert a group picture but my phone camera died after the first hour… so here are Benji and Packer with their cousins PJ, Julia, and Sam.

The scary part of the night was when one of the trucks gas pedal got stuck and he couldn’t stop. He came barrelling over the dirt barrier and slammed into theย  metal fence just 10 feet in front of us before cutting the engine. We were so thankful that the fence held and everyone was safe.

The best part is the contest that Ben created and we all get to try and pick the winning cars. I had to hand the trophy over to Carter Thal this year. I’m hoping to get that picture from someone else but in the mean time I’ll leave you with a nice pic of Ben’s facial hair and a Yee Haw for Derbies!

    Pre California

I went to California last week! I have a deal with myself that if Ben is going to be gone then I can be gone also. So Ben went to scout camp and I took the kids to CA. LaNell came with me because I CANNOT make the drive by myself and we had a wonderful trip minus a few long hours of screaming in the car. Anyway, rewind another week before last week and that is where these pictures are coming from:

    slip n slide

We had a free Saturday and spent it at home doing a few chores but mostly just being home as a family. The kids did the slip n slide and then took the cold hose in the hot hot tub and played for hours. Rose wore arm floaties and couldn’t quite relax with them.

Cali loves the camera and she loves swimming

    Packer practicing his snorkel

The next day we got to pick my niece and nephew up at the airport. Shae is 17 and Braden is 14. They got to go to EFY this year so we spent Sunday evening hanging out with them before they went to BYU for the week. We also spent time with the Nettesheims that night for Ellie’s birthday.

Taylor, Braden, Brady, Kelsey, and Shaelyn

Joel took this random pic of Brewer waiting for us to get home Sunday night. He's a good lookin dog.

    A few more random pictures:

Our backyard Tree that we love.

Each of our children have enjoyed this swing.

Rose chewing on a rag - she loves to do this after every meal - weird - but whatever.

    Our cute thumb sucker.

Summer is going way to fast. It just started but I can already see the end…

    Last Day of PreSchool

    last day party

    preschool class

Packer had his last Day of school yesterday!! I think he was happy to be done for the summer. He behaves really well but he doesn’t LOVE the learning like his older brother. He did learn most of his letters and CAN right his name – just barely. He has a short attention span for reading and writing. His thing is still ART – any project is fun for him and any excuse to get out the scissors, tape or markers is jumped on. In fact he is at the table right now making a creation with leftover popcorn and glue. Packer grew 2 inches and gained 3 pounds during the school year.

the door is not pretty but you can see those 2 inches cause his head is almost to the deadbolt ๐Ÿ™‚

I love these pictures I got of my Packer Man – SOO CUTE! I’m not sure when he became such a poser…

    no more school!

    see ya in kindergarten!

Packer and Benji Play Soccer – 2012

We had our last soccer Saturday this last weekend. I say last meaning the last one until Fall when we start a new season. I believe we will have MANY soccer Saturdays from here on out.

This was Packer’s first year playing. Ben was able to coach his team. His cousins Luca and Sam were both on the team and and Calista requested Coach Ben since her older brother has been on his teams. Calista brought a lot of her friends and we had a good time.

Packer is in the middle... he learned a lot this year but was not very aggressive - very similar to his older brother BUT he says he wants to play again next season so we will keep at it.

Cousins - Luca, Sam and Packer

We are a little worried about when Cali is ready to play in another year. Ben would love to coach all 3 but it would be very time consuming and I’m afraid games would over lap. I would love to help more but I have toooo many babies that need me ๐Ÿ™‚ So – – I am curious to see what we end up doing when that time comes. In the mean time… Benji’s team was all returning from last year! They all came back for more fun and it was fun. They are finally starting to get the game. Benji got his first goal this season and he has improved a lot.

Benji - end of 3rd year.

Blue Flames - Kael, Austin, Connor, Benji, Gabe - Annie, Maddy , Ben, Julia, Allie

Benji learned to go to the ball instead of away! Pokemon Cards were incentive this year.

Cousins - Benji and Julia. Next year they split boys and girls so this was their last year together ๐Ÿ™

Ben has loved being their coach. I love going to every game even though I have crazy babies:

    Archery and BB Gun

A fun activity that we did at the cabin was a little archery and shooting for the kids. Uncle Sean was really good at teaching the kids how to use the bow. Benji and Packer really liked being big enough to shoot.

    happy birthday PACKER

Packer was born on April 25th. This year it was on a Wednesday so we celebrated as a family that day and then Aunt Tracie and Uncle John celebrated with us on Thursday and we had a cousins party on Friday. We kept things pretty low key but Packer had a lot of fun with his new presents and eating lots of cake.

wearing his backpack around 2 hours before school because he got to bring the treat and do show and tell!

    PRESENTS are the best part!!

    a PSP game!

Eye Pet, Snorkel, EZ Fort, Angry Bird Card Game, and Gum = a happy Packer!

We are in the habit of opening presents first thing in the morning so we can just play all day. I don’t think Packer changed out of his pajamas until it was time for soccer practice.

    early morning fort building

i would like to wear my birthday snorkel while I eat my lunch.

    video games with dad

play-doh time with Lucy, Luca and Mia

cupcakes and candles after soccer practice. grandma and grandpa stopped by too.

    thursday

Tracie and Cedar brought window markers!

    friday

    plants v zombies trivia/treasure hunt!!

    the YETI ZOMBIE birthday cake!

cake with cousins - then movie time.

The 3 day party was a success. Packer is still Mr. Chill. He is very lovable. His favorite right now is computer time. He wakes up begging and goes to bed thinking about playing again. He plays everything from Club Penguin to Zombies to Skylanders. Packer loves to play with Benji. He follows Benji around and thrives on their make believe games. He doesn’t like to be kissed good night but he does like multiple hugs. I can’t believe our Pac Man is already 5. Too big!
