back from spring break and my MOM was in town

My mom came to visit! She has been making the rounds this last month… a night at Christy’s for Braden’s play. A couple of weeks at Tracie’s while John is away being trained for a new job. To Shannon’s Idaho family for her graduation. To Ryan’s house. To her parents in Orem. To my house. And she left here and went to Josh’s house for Easter. She gets to spend time with Michael and Kevin on a regular basis and she did spend time with the “home-less” (Joel, Brady and Sean) as well! If she disappears tomorrow my money is on Taiwan 🙂

We had an extended Johnson family get together at our place one of the nights. She gave Packer an early birthday present. We did get in a few games, Cali and Rose and Grammy got in the most games. Michael spent some time hanging out with us too. And we dug out a rare VHS of some of our younger years. The highlight is a wrestling match between Brady and Sean when mom chimes in from the kitchen in her beautiful night gown, “Boys, You’re wasting your morning.”

And Millie decided that she can sit up. She loves it.

    Our Weekend

We had a super fun weekend!

On Friday night we had some family time with our kids. We introduced them to the first Harry Potter movie. They liked it and are excited for the next movies and excited to start reading them again. Packer says we do need to finish Fable Haven before we start that series.

On Saturday we were excited for General Conference. A few weeks ago Ben and I spoke in church about the importance of prophets and being prepared to hear the word of the Lord at General Conference. It was a great reminder for us and we were truly excited to listen on Saturday and Sunday. After conference Ben made pizza and we finished getting the house cleaned up. Ryan and Tara and their 4 girls came over at 5:30! We ate pizza and the boys went to Priesthood Session of Conference. Tara and I took the kids to Trafalga! It was super fun with cousins. They played Laser Tag and climbed the rock wall and drove go carts. I had the babies and little kids so we played on the video games with no money and we rode the airplanes and played miniature golf. We played on the playground and then it took me 10 minutes to convince the girls to be done on the frog hopper! Rose rode the Frog Hopper at least 15 times in a row at the very end! Millie and Ray were tired a little after 8pm so we swapped Benji for Brinlee and I came home. Tara and her crew stayed until 11pm! We came back and met up with Ben and Ryan and Joel and Brady and Sean and Casey. We let the kids watch a movie and we played 7 wonders and Dominion until 1am.

    IMG_20140405_194234 IMG_20140405_195422 IMG_20140405_201026 IMG_20140405_201625

On Sunday we ALL slept in. Ben got the food started. Ryan and I worked on a puzzle while we listened to conference. Then right before 12:00 Shannon got here! She drove fron Rexburg to spend the day with us – HER BIRTHDAY. And Sean and Brady and Casey all came cause it was SEAN’s bday too! and Joel and Megan joined us! We ate some delicious Pork Burritos and Ben made some amazing salsa. We watched the last session of conference together and then we played games and had cake and ice cream and partied until people had to leave.

Today is the first day of SPRING BREAK and I am loving it. Everyone slept in again! We stayed in our PJ’s all morning and now we are just blogging and playing a game with the kids and being lazy 🙂 We will go to St George later in the week and we are all excited for that.

    Our California Trip

We drove to California the day after Christmas. In perfect weather. We love when that happens especially with all of the cold and snow that we have had. When we got to Oroville that evening we got to see lots of family and have Robertson Christmas. All of my siblings were there except Ryan and his family and Kelsey is on her mission. The Christmas Chaos is so fun. We pack into the living room and soon there are boxes and wrapping paper and kids wanting to open new toys and… It’s great.

Saturday the 28th my mom and sisters and I all went to a baby Shower in the morning. Then we drove to Chico to meet up with Liz, Suzie, Mal and Megan. We ate and shopped and got home a bit later than we expected. The men handled the kids just fine. They played at the park and made a slurpee run – YES it was 60 degrees or more EVERY DAY that we were there! It was SOOO nice to be able to go outside after having a cold snow covered December.

On Monday we got up and played soccer with friends. Mom was nice enough to take care of all of the children. After soccer we started cleaning the kitchen and prepping the ceiling for paint. The guys went frisbee golfing. The Hancocks came over to play. We had pizza for dinner since the kitchen was under construction and then the kids went hot tubbing. Ben and I left the kids with mom again that night and went to yogurts with a few friends.

Tuesday – the last day of 2013! Our kitchen project turned into painting and organizing the laundry room. We had a lot to get done so I worked on that and Ben took our kids Geocaching. They loved exploring and again enjoying the warm weather. We hit Taco Bell and then cleaned up before the New Year party. The Hancock kids came over to play again and I went and visited my Aunts that live in Oroville and they got to meet Millie. That night we invited the Hancock’s over and we played all night and 10 of our 11 kids made it to the new year hour! We played headbands on the phone and we played Yahtzee, 7 wonders and Dominion. The parents played Nertz all night long and wouldn’t let us join in. The kids played headbands with us and just played and watched Planes. We had yummy snacks and rung in the new year with Walts firecrackers.

January 1 – we started off the new year with some more soccer. This time we took the older kids and let them play with us. After soccer I went hot tubbing with the kids and then we watched some football. That afternoon I went up to the Oroville Dam for a few minutes with Katie and Erica while the kids got to play with Pacen and Camry again. And that evening Kevin and Liz came back to enjoy moms famous chicken noodle soup and rolls (yum). We finished out the day with Mikila and a few games.

Thursday January 2 – we all slept in! and then my mom took the big kids to meet up with Liz and her kids at the park to ride bikes. I got to visit with Tonya and meet little baby Noah. Then we loaded everyone up and headed to the movie theater because we hadn’t seen FROZEN yet! I know, we should not have waited so long because that movie is AWESOME and we all loved it. Mom and Mike came with us and we have officially joined the frozen soundtrack obsession. We spent our final evening in Oroville over at Kevin and Liz’s house. Liz made delicious tacos and we ate and chilled and played a little hoops and the kids put on a play for us.

Friday we said goodbye and headed home. We only stopped twice but it still took us the 11 ish hours that it always does. Our kids were good in the car and had plenty of electronics to entertain  them. It was fun to come back and watch the kids remember all of their Christmas gifts and then we CRASHED. I am finally feeling recovered from the Robertson vacation and I almost have Christmas put away and almost have the house back together and almost have a place for the new toys.

Johnson Family Party, Robertson Day, Netty Gift Exchange, Nativity with G and G Becker…

The fun just keeps on coming and so does the craziness. This time of the year is so full. We are trying to soak it all in and stay sane at the same time. I actually think we are doing a good job…

Last Friday we hosted a family party for my mom’s extended family. My Grandparents came and my Aunt and Uncle and some cousins with their kids and some of my siblings. It was a simple but fun evening. We just visited and snacked. We took a few minutes to get a family picture of Grandma and Grandpa with a bunch of their Great Grand kids and we sang a few Christmas songs. I love my family and am grateful to be so close to so many of them.

Ryan and Tara decided to sleep over that night so after the extended family left we still had a lot of gaming and fun with Ryan and Tara, Joel and Megan and Sean and Brady and Bracken. Then Michael was just getting home from his Europe trip and he came to stay the night as well. We had a ton of fun and stayed up half the night (3am) and had a blast. The next day we jumped right into gaming and snacking and the kids played great. Joel and Megan came back over Saturday afternoon and made and decorated cookies with the kids! and that evening we let Taylee babysit so the adults could go out to dinner. FUN FUN FUN

The fun continued the next day when we headed over for some Nettesheim fun. We had a family dinner and our cousin/sibling gift exchange! Being with family is so fun and easy and awesome. The night went way to fast and we enjoyed giving and receiving gifts.

Monday night we got to go visit with Grandma and Grandpa Becker and have our family home evening with them. It has become a tradition for us to take our puppets and tell the Christmas story. Gladys always gets to be Mary and Ray likes to be a Wise man. The little kids clung to me the whole time until Grandpa brought out his treats. We love this time of year!

    A BUSY WEEK

    A BUSY WEEK

We had a non-stop week. We had lots of fun things on the calendar and we did them all. Last Friday Night we had cousins night at our house. This is when the “local” cousins all come over for 4 hours so the parents can go out. The cousins have tons of fun hanging out and now that the kids are getting older Ben and I were able to sit back and watch the football game while all of the kids played.

The next day was the last day of fall soccer for Ben and the boys!! Packer got another goal and they stayed undefeated. Benji’s team got their first loss. We now have our Saturdays back and our Weds and Thursday evenings! That night we had our Annual showing of Charlie Brown, the great pumkin. We had lots of new neighbors come as well as family and some friends from our old ward. The hot chocolate was great, We had a few raffle prizes, the kids all had friends and cousins to be giddy with. The weather was good and it ended up being ok showing the movie in the driveway instead of on our too new to walk on sod.

Monday was another party day. It was my brother Brady’s birthday so we had him and Sean and Joel and Megan over for dinner and pumpkin carving. Megan brought most of the dinner and it was soo good – we appreciate Joel bringing her into the family 🙂 After dinner was pumpkin time. Our kids had each picked the picture that they wanted to do on their pumpkin – usually Ben and I are up until midnight getting them all carved but this year we had lots of great helpers. Everyone paired up and helped our kids carve and it was a ton of fun. Joel and Megan helped Ray do a fun face. Ben helped Rose carve a Plants vs. Zombies Sun  Flower. Brady and Cali did Hello Kitty. Packer and Casey did a Zombie. Benji and Sean did a minion. Shealyn did a halloween cat. I was on picture taking, baby tending, clean up…

Tuesday night we had a ward party at the church. Each family brings Candy and a game and the kids go crazy. We set up our soccer goal and hung the “little Man” and let the kids score a goal on it for a piece of candy. Ben and Raymond manned the station while I helped the kids make the rounds. The Young Men’s group made a spook alley but our kids were all to scared to try it. Other families did golf, bball, bean bags, rings, bouncy balls into a bucket, coloring, cotton candy, musical chairs… It was a fun night for the family and we got to interact with people from our new ward.

Wednesday night we went to check out the Halloween Train in Lindon. It is a small train at someone’s house and over the years it has gotten bigger and bigger. They took us on a train ride through lots of spooky alleys. It was fun and different. We went right when it opened so that the kids wouldn’t be scared. We still had lots of wide EYES but no tears.
