Tuesday morning my mom had to leave. It’s hard to say goodbye because she is awesome at “helping”. She just see’s what needs to be done and she does it. Sometimes that is house work, sometimes food or playing with kids… she can do it all. (then i have energy to party with all of the fam that come with her). I missed my nap time and was pretty grumpy in the kitchen trying to make dinner with fussy and fighting kids when Ben got home from work… he’s experienced enough to recognize the situation and jump in and help me. We survived. That night was Dad Time for Packer… he and Ben went to a park and made a collection and enjoyed some one on one time.

Monday was a party day. It was my mom and Mike’s last day with us 🙁 We played and shopped. The kids soaked up Grammy time and uncle michaels ipad time. I napped. That evening Ryan and his family came for dinner and everyone from the night before. Then around 7pm my moms sisters and parents and some of the cousins showed up and we surprised my mom with a little bit early 60th birthday party!!

A restful day at home. Family went to church. The under three year olds and I did not. Ben made sunday dinner. My brothers (mike, sean, brady and joel) and sister in law (megan) and niece (shaelyn) came over for dinner. Grandma and Grandpa Nettesheim stopped by. Lots of loves for Millie.

    Labor Day and Stuff

I’m to scatter brained to sit and write something meaningful so I am loading my pictures and if any comments make it on the page then GREAT…

I love these smiles. Ray is such a tease lately. Today he took Rose’s lip gloss at least 3 different times and runs and runs until she catches him and pries it out of his hand. Rose is under the sleeping bag in this one and I am sure Ray is giggling about that.

    IMG_20130828_094103

We had the opportunity to camp for Labor day but this pregnant mom was too tired to attempt it. Our kids were disappointed but they were also understanding. We still got to play with lots of cousins and we spent Sunday evening at the campground. I didn’t take any pictures but we had a good time. I missed camping but today I am not missing the camping clean up.

We spent Labor Day with the Nettesheim’s. Lots of food and visiting. I love hanging out with family and letting the kids loose with their cousins. It was Great. That evening I spent some time with my sister Shannon who came down from Idaho. It’s fun to have one on one time – Shannon showed me the best foods at Taco Time since she has worked there for over 4 years now and I had never been until last night! And I made her push my 500 lb shopping cart as I grabbed dog food and detergent and diapers and snacks and anything that I might not want to run out of right when this little baby decides to be born. I had a checkup at the Dr Office today and there is nothing to report… it’s could be any day or it could be a week or more… I’m trying to let life go on …

Rose loves to color right now. And she loves to tell me all the things that the new baby will need. Today I had to eat the last oreo because she wanted the new baby to have it – OK. And she really needs to go to McDonald’s to show the new baby the slides. Funny Girl.

And today I took the 2 rascals to the park after taking Cali to Preschool. I didn’t want to BUT I’m glad I did. They had a blast. They were sweaty but they didn’t care. They played in the drinking fountain and threw wood chips and teased each other BUT there was no crying and no one else was there so they couldn’t disturb anyone or be shied away from the playground. I sat in the shade in the grass and dreamed about having our own yard to play in. And now I need to be done cause I should have dinner cooking and I don’t. Taco Tuesday?

    Broken Record

Every time I sit down to blog I want to write how busy we are and how fast time is flying by. Time is going so fast. I wish it would stop. I know I sound like a broken record on this blog of mine but that is the recurring theme of my life these days. There is not enough time in the day. Summer has flown by way to fast. I need time to slow down and nap and relax and catch up on everything and… I’m realizing that that time will probably never come – life seems to continually speed up.

Ben and I got back from our vacation Saturday morning and my parents and Kelsey and Brady were here at the house. They came from California Friday night and watched the kids that evening for us! Saturday morning we grabbed Grandma and Grandpa Johnson and Joel and Megan and we all went up to Ogden to spend time with Ryan and Tara and see their new home. Ben stayed behind to make sure that we were ready for the Baptism that night. We ate lunch and swam and played spoons and then grabbed a Taco Bell Freeze for the drive home. We came home to Ben’s homemade pizza and we all showered and got dressed to go to Benji’s baptism! The Baptism was great! We had so much family and we loved having everyone over afterwards and it was a memorable day for Benji. On Sunday we went to church and entertained family the rest of the day. Mom’s family came over throughout the evening. Grandma and Grandpa hung with us through dinner. ROOK was the game of the night. On Monday my parents had to head back to California for work but Kelsey and Brady stayed to play. They were our little teenagers for a few days 🙂 We got a few pre-mission things done and played more ROOK. That night they went to play with friends and we went to Grandpa Nettesheim’s birthday party! Tuesday was another day with Kelsey and Brady and me trying to get some rest. That night we had Joel and Megan over to say goodbye to Kelsey, …Dinner and ROOK and we stayed up way to late giving Kelsey our missionary advice and council. Today we finished off the whirlwind. Kelsey got all packed up and we said our goodbye’s. I had cub scouts at our house and then Kelsey left. She was really excited. She will be a great missionary for the church. We kept telling her that we would make sure she gets to see baby Gertrude before she leaves for Taiwan! The baby is due in exactly one month and Kel is in the MTC for two months so that second month I told her I would drive by the MTC and hold the baby out the window until we happened to run into each other 🙂 So that’s the plan… or just emailing lots of pictures 🙂 Then tonight Ben came home from work with tickets to the RSL soccer game. We decided to have him take Benji to the game with him this time. I stayed home with the kids that are all still clinging to me after my trip and everyone is TIRED. Ben and Benji just got home and had a great time at the game. The free food helped but he is finally old enough to watch the game and appreciate being there. So that’s our story. School is around the corner, need to get ready for that. Summer is ending, want to send it out with a bang. And it is crunch time to try to do everything before the new baby comes because new baby mode tends to mean lots of staying at home and playing with baby, trying to get sleep and not being productive.

    JULY 2013

The 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of July are a blurr. I think we went to the pool. We unpacked and did laundry and unboxed the rest of the upstairs. Packer and Raymond were a little sickly. On Friday the 12th we started our busy-busy-ness back up by picking Tracie and Cedar up! They came and stayed with us for 4 days!!
we are pregnant and we want Burgers!

we are pregnant and we want Burgers!

We started their stay with burgers and fries at JCW’s! That night Ben and I both didn’t sleep well. I had stomach issues and Ben had a fever. So Saturday should have been a fun day but I was too sick to do anything. I laid on the couch all day. Ben pushed through and got some chores done and Tracie just chilled with my kids and helped take care of everyone. That night I stayed on the couch and everyone else met up with Joel and Megan up the canyon for some food and fire!! The kids had a blast:

Sunday I started to feel better. we made it to church and then we had Ryan and Joel’s families over for Man Roast and Games. We played 7 wonders and Rook and Bracken and Talia came. Tracie had a fever by the end of that night 🙁
On Monday Tracie and Cedar rested in the morning, I got caught up on some house work and then went to my monthly dr apt – (Gertrude is good). That afternoon we took the kids to the Apline Splash Pad! Cedar loves the water. It was fun to watch her and watch Tracie chase her around:

Monday night we had Family Night and a SLEEPOVER! Since Tracie was here we let the kids all crash in the great room with us. I fell asleep first so I’m not sure how the slumber party went BUT the kids loved it.
On Tuesday we took Tracie and Cedar to the PG pool! Again – Cedar loved the water. She floated all over the pool in the little ducky. Raymond loves it as long as he is at least 5 feet away from me! stinker! We swam for 3 hours! Michelle and her kids came too.  Rose decided that Cedar was her best friend. We told her that Cedar is a little bit younger than Ray but she did not believe us or didn’t care. Cedar walks and talks and plays and Rosie loved her. That night we had Joel and Megan over for Tacos and one last game before Tracie had to leave in the morning.

Wednesday we got up and jumped in the van at 8:30 to take Tracie and Cedar to the airport! We won’t see them again until they have a new little baby! … Probably after the holidays. It was nice to spend some extra time with them. The trip to the airport was uneventful so the kids convinced me to stop at Scheels on the way home!! We looked at statues and fish and toys and animals and rode the escalator:

After that we were all in good spirits still and I had finally gotten a good night of sleep so we went to find the Sandy Fun Center that is free with our Pass of all Passes. We found it but it only has bowling and we didn’t have socks and it was crowded. So Rose convinced us to go to McDonalds and Packer convinced us that we had to go to OUR Trafalga later. McDonald’s was a success and we were close to where my one American Mission Companion lives so I texted and we waited and SHE CAME! Sister Tranter came and visited with me at McDonalds with her 4 kids and we got to catch up a little and it happened to be her bday! I loved seeing her.
    5 Happy Meals Please!

    5 Happy Meals Please!

We made it home at 2:45pm. I was tired. Ray napped. LaNell came over. We ate French Toast for dinner. That night LaNell, Michelle and I went Shopping.
By THURSDAY I was exhausted but we had things to get done and it was the one day that LaNell could go to 7 Peaks with us! I got my stuff done in the morning and then we finally made it to 7 Peaks at 1:30. We stayed all afternoon. It was CROWDED but the kids still loved it. The Lazy River is by far their favorite. We headed home for dinner and Raymond decided to be sick again that day :(. After dinner we met our new backyard neighbors! They seemed nice and have kids Cali and Rosie’s age! The homes are going up all around us. There has been constant construction. We are excited to see the neighborhood come about.  And that night I decided that my 17 month old child really should be wearing shoes when he goes out to play so I tackled the task of finding the boy shoes in the basement… that was my first attempt at organizing and seeing what I have down there in storage. lots of junk…
On Friday I wanted nothing more than to lay around the house and do nothing BUT I had promised Packer a trip to Trafalga. So we got up first thing Friday morning and went. We got there right at 10am when it opened and we played on everything: pirate ship ride and lighthouse, Outside mini golf, frog hopper, playground, inside mini golf, video games and one last time on the rides. We got home around 1pm and I finally got some chill time 🙂  Chill time with Raymond was good but then I remembered the stinky car with Raymonds throw up in it and went out and tackled that mess of a project. By dinner time we had no dinner but we had a clean van!! Luckily my husband is understanding and we survived with frozen pizza. That evening Packer took the training wheels off his bike and gave his first try at riding! He is scared but we are ALL trying to get him motivated.

Saturday the 20th I took it easy. We got some chores done around the house and then we got a babysitter for the evening! Ben was able to get REAL SOCCER tickets so we went and enjoyed the game. Club Seats, free food, intense match up. A perfect date in my book. And a perfect end to this post!!

    The Sand Cave

On Saturday morning we got permission to go the sand cave in Kanab. It was a very short walk from the car and it was AWESOME. The cave was very big. It was fun to explore and the COLORS were really neat. We all came home with beautiful jars of sand creations.

That night we had one more reunion party at the park and then we came back to the house to clean up and pack up. It was a fun trip to Kanab. I enjoyed being with family and I enjoyed trying somewhere new. I don’t know when we’ll make it back but we had a good time.

    The Horses

Great Uncle Kent? brought his horses over for all of us to enjoy! I am not much of a horse person but the kids LOVED getting a short ride around the yard. That was the first time for my kids to ride a horse. They have been on a few ponies over the years but this was a first.

and I just found this picture – is this me in Kanab – decades ago? or is it Christy? and is it Kanab? madre?

    The Hike

Friday morning was a group hike with extended family reunion participants. We decided to support the cause and took our 5 kids to the meeting point at 8am. To make a long story short we walked straight up the red cliff mountain for an hour and then another hour through the sand and over to an old Indian cave with markings. It was a taxing hike. Especially with all of our kids and me being great with child. BUT we had help from my siblings and we made it.

We were worn out by the time we got home but that didn’t stop the kids from swimming all afternoon. That afternoon we hosted a party for Grandpa Johnson! and that Evening we had all of the reunion over for dinner and swimming.

We got up and went to the parade on the morning of the 4th! We met up with Aunt Di and her kids and their kids and the Grandparents. The parade was pretty wimpy but watching the kids run for candy was entertaining. My cousin and his wife threw more candy than the parade participants so it was a success!
