    Quick Trip to Eden

We just got back from Eden Utah. My brother Ryan turned 33 yesterday so we headed up there to celebrate. Joel and Sean jumped in with us  and we had a great time. Anyone that knows Ryan knows that he is the biggest Gamer of all Gamers – so we went to play games – we fit in 3 games before 10:30 – (our deadline for making the hour and a half trip back to PG). We chose to play Zooloretto all night. I was the best Zoo Keeper the first round but then I ended up dead last in the other 2 rounds 🙁 Ben and Ryan each came away with a win also. We had a fun Tuesday evening! and now our brakes on the van are making a horrible grinding sound… so that will be my project for tomorrow….blahhh.

    Our Christmas…

We visited Ben’s maternal grandparenst in West Valley City to show off new baby Cali and wish them a Merry Christmas!

On Christmas Eve we went to hang out with the cousins. The kids all did the nativity. We had some confused but very cute role players. Benji was Joseph and Packer is a Wise Man trying to be the donkey…

CHRISTMAS MORNING! Superman and Batman were very entertaining. We had a great morning enjoying the holiday and our three children.

The day after Christmas we drove to California to be with my fam 🙂 Anyone that grew up in the hood might recognize the “sour grass” that Packer is eating. The cousins introduced it to him and I’m pretty sure that is all he had for dinner that night!

We loaded the 4 vans and treked up to Bald Rock for a day. It is beautiful up there. We hiked to the caves and did a little rock climbing and mostly chased kids to make sure noone fell off an edge!

SUPERMANS! Packer and his cousin Payton were SAMERS – Payton is 6 months younger but they are the same size and were very cute running around in their too long pajamas.

Rocket Launch. Benji got to launch the first rocket. You will see him running away in the last picture. People at the school thought that we were a day care or something – nope – just the Robertsons!

And here is our little angel. She didn’t get as much camera time with all of the vacation Chaos but she did get held for most of the time we were there. She doesn’t look too comfy here but she didn’t cry at all on the 11 hour trip home!

We had a fun vacation . And played lots of games. One day I counted 8 games that I played ( puerto Rico, Zooleretto, Hand and Foot, Settlers…) and each game averages an hour to play! That is a lot of GAMING and I loved it! We had a wonderful Christmas month… we got to spend time with lots of family and friends and made it through without any illness… we were very blessed in 2008 and look forward to another great year.

Here is a look at what we’ve been up to these first 2 weeks of December:

    PACKER and TRAINS

Packer just loves playing trains right now and I love watching him play trains. He gets so excited to hook them together. Too cute.

    THE HOGLE ZOO

Before Cali was born we took the boys to the zoo to see the lights. They had tons of animals made out of lights. It was really cold so most of the real animals were not there but the Penguins were! The boys were super excited with the lights so it made for a fun night. The Falabella cousins also made it fun.

    2 Days in the Hospital

Cali was born at the Provo Hospital, early in the a.m. so Ben and I tried to get some sleep afterwards – -  the little snow men down below sang Jingle Bells all day and then we were bombarded with some sort of Motorcycle Riders something – not a peaceful morning of recovery!

baby Claira came to visit. Cali looks very intrigued. and I thought a crying Claira picture would be good to balance out the perfect baby pics that we find on Ericas blog. And below is baby Packer! He is having a little bit of a hard time adjusting. He has taken to grunting at the world and ignoring mom. But he is very sweet with his little sister and Dad has become first choice. Benji is loving having a little sister and just has a million questions about life!

    FRIDAY DECEMBER 12:

    turkey dinner

That would be a pile of Turkey and leftovers on our roof! To make a long story short we clogged the sink/disposal on Friday afternoon: Jana and Mom called Mr Fix It Robertson and decided to find the clog and fix the sink before Grandparents, Aunts, and Siblings dropped in to visit. Undoing the plumbing to the kitchen sink was a peice of cake BUT the clog was not there – – so it must be further down the line… I’m not about to bring a hose in the house and start spraying it in hopes that it goes down a pipe so… I call a ward member and he brings the hose in! Again to make a long story short the food found its way out of the ventilatuon pipe on the roof and tried to come up out of the Washer drain before we finally got it flushed out and working. So thankful for willing and helpful neighbors!

here is Benji with his Uncle John. My boys love it when their aunts and uncles come to play with them… so much fun.

    GOODBYE GRANDMA

We were very sad to say goodbye to Grandma Robertson on Saturday. She spent the week taking care of Cali, reading books to Packer, playing make believe with Benji, and feeding the whole family. I think we wore her out pretty good and we definitely appreciate all that she did while she was here. Thanks mom!

Baby Cali has been a good sleeper. She seems to sleep best when the rest of the house is up and going. Nights and days were mixed up at first but now she’s sleeping night and day.

    Thanksgiving!

We had the Thanksgiving party at our house this year and it was fun. We have always gone to be with my parents or Ben’s parents but we decided it would be best to stay close to Dr and hospital so this was our first Utah Thanksgiving. Of course the baby didn’t come so we could have travelled but… luckily we had a lot of family around, the turkey turned out, and we just really enjoyed the holiday. Throughout the week we got to play with my siblings: Shannon, Sean, Joel, and Tracie (and husband John). We also had the Carters over for Thanksgiving dinner and some of the week – they are friends of the family that came from Oroville to hang out with the college kids. And we got to spend some time with Bens siblings: Pete and Matt and Michelle – our local Nettesheim families, ( being local they get taken for granted and not mentioned as much on the blog but we LOVE having all of them close by.)

On Wednesday night we stayed up late playing cards and more Settlers.

    card game more settlers

On Thursday, Ben got up early and worked on his first Turkey dinner – he said that he highly underestimated the nastinness of a “pre cooked, needing to be cleaned out and prepared for the oven turkey”! but he got it in the oven and by 9am the house was smelling so good but it was an 18 pounder and on slow cook mode so we wouldn’t be ready to eat until 3:30. In the mean time we had plenty of time to make the potatoes and veggies and salads and… the rest of the Thanksgiving Feast. Luckily everyone pitched in on the cooking – I think they knew that a “Jana” dinner might not be up to par 🙂 . And Uncle Sean pretended to cook the “Benji Turkey” so everyone was happy.

This was our Thanksgiving Dinner group. Packer fell asleep before dinner but he got plenty of leftovers. Actually we all got plenty of leftovers – 4 days later we are still going strong on potatoes and turkey! And I have successfully eaten Pumpkin and Chocolate Pie everyday since! We are Thankful for friends and family and health and strength. For the Gospel and testimonies and a Savior. Ben and I feel that we are very blessed and are grateful for all that we have. What a great holiday!

    Board Game Geeks…

My brothers Ryan and Sean came over on Saturday so we made time for a combined game of Settlers, Sea Farers, and Cities and Knights. Anyone familiar with Settlers of Catan knows how intense this is. Ryan came away with a lucky win, Ben held his own, Sean was a first timer but hung in there and I got whooped.

    ultimate settlers

You can always count on Robertsons for pulling lame faces in pictures and devouring a bag of M&M’s at some point during the game. For those that know the game I am displaying my two LAME Progress Cards – both Intrigue cards! The lamest in the whole game. No wonder I couldn’t pull off the win.

I’m excited for the holiday week. We’ve always gone out of state for Thanksgiving but with my due date being so close we’ll be home this year. A few of the Robertson clan will be here on Thursday so hopefully Ben gone pull off a yummy turkey! And I am craving some pumpkin Pie! yum. I can’t wait.

    Chicken Wing

My boys have decided that they love these hats. They look so cute in them. I took them to a freezing cold softball tournament last Friday night (hence the chapped cheeks and lips) and they have been wearing the hats ever since. Yesterday was T-shirts, pants, and snow hats weather – I love it!

    cold Benji Cold Packer

Last weekend we had Aunt Tracie and Uncle John come and stay with us for Tracies Birthday!! Ben and Benji were so excited to have them come 🙂 We played lots of fun Benji games and went to McDonalds and Chuck E Cheese inbetween softball games on Friday night ( i think our kids are spoiled! we did only spend 2$ at chuck e cheese so….). We went and played Raquetball and WallyBall on Saturday morning for Tracies party, Joel and Sean came too so that was fun!! I love having a big family! After that we had the BYU game .

    chicken wing happy birthday Tracie

Tracie lived with us before she got married and during that time she and Benji decided that they each call each other “Chicken Wing”. I don’t think it has any meaning or came from anything but it has definitely stuck. So this is Tracie’s Chicken Wing Cake and Benji calling her Chicken Wing and laughing. Lots of fun.

    On the Road Again

Happy Boys getting ready for our RoadTrip! We had a Robertson weekend – Mom and Pots were driving out to bring Sean to BYU Provo and then Shannon to BYU Idaho. They convinced Michael and Kelsey to come for the ride. Then it was decided that since 2 forks of the Robertson family live in Cedar City, Ut, then the trip would need to pass through there as well. Tracie and John and Ryan and Tara planned a camping spot for us at Cedar Breaks so that’s where we all met up on Friday night.

    Close Quarters

Joel jumped in our car for a ride down and we got camp all set up in decent time and enjoyed our tin foil dinners. Ours is the Blue tent and I had to apologize for Packer screaming MaMa mama for a good half of an hour at 2:30 in the morning – you can see that our tenting quarters were rather close so I was not the only one to suffer his out burst. Tara and Ryans 2 month old did much better sleeping than The Pac Man. We took our dog for his first camping trip and he did really well. He slept in his cage in our tent and was a good dog.

    Mammoth Caves

On Saturday we ventured to Mammoth Caves. You crawl through the grate here and can hike quite a ways and come out on the other end. I was the only one not to get the flashlight Memo but it was still a neat place. Benji and Packer slept through most of it (in the car with Dad) but Benj woke up in time to explore the little cave with his cousins.

    Benji in Cave

We also hiked to a waterfall – I think it was called Cascade Falls. It was a fairly short hike which was perfect for us pregnants and little kids. I forgot the camera so no pics. The “kids” – Joel, Tracie, John, Sean, Shannon, and Kelsey stayed and hiked for a mile or two back up into the cave of the waterfall. Will I ever be that adventurous again?? I’m too mom now – those things I used to do without thinking don’t have the same pull anymore. We’ll see how I feel after these child bearing years!

    Robertsons

Shannon, Ryan, Taylee, Annette, Tom, Joel, Sean, Michael, and Benji. Some of the fam just chillin after the caves. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the trip because we had a really good time. We are due for a new camera so that will inspire more pics and pictures without smudge mark glare across them. 🙄

    Fire Side w Grandma

This was our last campfire on Sunday. We admit to being wimpy campers. Let me explain. We came with plans to camp Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. On Saturday after our hikes and as we made dinner it started to rain so we started to pack up some of our stuff and as the hail came pouring down and the wind picked up we jumped in the cars and headed to Ryans house for the night where we could be warm, play cards without getting wet and cold, and be able to get to church on time for Baby Brinlees blessing. And my air mattress was not comfortable! So we left camp and slept inside, we had the baby blessing and luncheon and then Sunday evening we went back up to check on camp and with another 50% chance of thunder storms and dark clouds over our heads we decided to break camp and enjoy one more fire and then we again headed for the safety and warmth of Ryan and Tracies homes. 😀

    Happy boys in car

Here are the boys after breaking camp – happy to be in the warm car. The trip was tons of fun. I learned a new card game called “Hand and Foot”. We said goodbye to the Ryan Robertsons and the Lewis family and came home on Monday. Sean got to check into his freshman dorms and started school on Tuesday. I got to see the movie Mama Mia with my mom and sisters. “thanks Kelsey”. We spent time with the Johnson side of the family on Tuesday and with Uncle Russel and family. And then Mom and Dad left Wednesday morning to get Shannon settled in Rexburg! I love busy weekends. That was a fun end to our summer.

    Great Grandma Becker

We also got to meet up with the Nettesheims and celebrate Grandma Beckers birthday on Monday. Grandma was impressed that 16 kids in one house could be that quiet. Bens mom was also in town so we got to spend time with her as well. We enjoyed seeing all of Grandpa Beckers slides and especially the comentary that they shared with us. I love holidays and family.

Some of my family came to town this last weekend for Tracie and Johns Utah reception, as we sat around on Friday night I mentioned the idea of rebuilding the back steps of our house,…Now – any of you that have been to mine and Ben’s house in the last 2 years are well aware that we need a new back porch! So we were excited and amazed when my dad and Ryan started talking through the project, made a Home Depot list and the next morning we were off to the store!!…
