The most recent adventures of Rose:

    I am a princess.

    love her personality

Rose is a crazy little 1 and a half year old. She was 18 months on April 1st (speaking of April fools: we put koolaid in cups and the kids all tried to drink it – hee hee). Rose can be extremely fun or extremely moody. She has decided to start biting her bottles so I am trying to get her to switch to a sippy – we are having medium success but she still loves the bottle when I just give in and give it to her. She is much happier and less moody with a stomach full of milk.

all of our kids have enjoyed the backyard swing

    wheeeeee

    happiness

Rose has discovered the whipped cream in the fridge. I made the mistake of giving her a taste straight into her mouth and now she can’t get enough. She follows me into the kitchen and speaks gibberish until I give her some cream. I must admit that it is pretty cute.

    Rose's new best friend

don't use the red can of cream if you come over for sundaes or jello :)Γ‚

Rose said “yellow” today! and she still says “sorry” in a really cute voice and accompanies it with a hug. She has started teasing her siblings – her teasing is taking game pieces and messing everything up that they are doing, not so cute but a learning opportunity for all involved. That’s it for now but I’m sure she’ll do something new or crazy soon so I’ll be back.

    Sunday Night

Almost Every Sunday Night we have some of my family over for dinner and games. If everyone can make it then it is Ryan, Tara and 4 girls, Joel, Brady, Sean and Kelsey. So we have 8 adults and 9 kids and whatever friend Brady brings along (Usually Casey these days). I love that they all take the time to play with the kids. This last Sunday Kelsey and Brady got a hold of the camera so we got some fun pictures:

    Kelsey and my babies

Rose is finally warming up to everyone - she used to roll her eyes and pretend not to look at you - now she begs to be thrown on the bean bag

    Cali "play with me"

Sean taking a homework break, trying to beat Ben's score on Whale Trail

Kelsey is 12 years younger than I am so she was only 6 yrs old when I left for College! I'm glad they come to college out here so I can see them.

Rose Loves her Baby - she even does baby talk when she says Baby

More play time - Benji seems to be eluding my camera lately - he disappears when there are cousins to play with.

Prayers, hugs and the kids to bed!

I love having so much family! that must be why I keep going through these pregnancies and adding to my own chaos. Family is my favorite!

This last Sunday was Rose’s first time going to Nursery! She technically still had 2 weeks until she is 18 months but our nursery leaders are WONDERFUL and they let her in, and let her cry for 20 minutes and then when they pulled out the bubbles she forgot about crying and had a great time at nursery. We will see how she does this Sunday. Raymond had his first full 3 hours of church and he slept threw the entire thing in his car seat.

glad my babies had a good Sunday

PS – Rose even added the word “bubble” to her vocabulary! baby, mom, baba (bottle), more, please. This week she has been saying “sorry” to Cali a lot and she really tries to say the word. She also just started trying to say the kids names and started playing the “Rosie say… (pick a word)” game. She can also do the face game – show me your eyes, ears, mouth, tongue, nose, teeth, hair… and she tries to say each of those words! I’m excited. It makes a world of difference when a child can tell you what they want πŸ™‚

    6 Barfs

yesterday was a beautiful day. the sun was shining, the wind was calm. we walked to the park and enjoyed the 60 degrees. we came home and enjoyed lunch and naps. we had cousins over to play and and all the kids played super good together and played outside almost the entire afternoon. Rose woke up and wanted to join the fun so I put her out in the garden with a shovel. I checked on her throughout the next hour and she was just a happy little thing in the garden so I let her be. When she finally came in I had to rinse the dirt off of her and refill the dogs water because that had been her last stop. This is where the beautiful day ended… She threw up on the carpet. It was brown dirty throw up. I don’t know how much dirt she ate but she threw up a lot. I know my kids eat dirt but I think she was shoveling it in. She threw up 2 more times before Ben got home and then he was blessed to witness 2 more throw ups that night. It didn’t seem like sick throw up, it was definitely eating to much dirt and washing it down with the dogs water throw up – My Poor Little Girl! and then to top it all off we woke up to a crib full of the nasty stuff this morning! Good news is – that was the last of it. No more barfs today!

PS – i will be escorting her to the sandbox/garden on her next few outings and I will be a stopper of the dirt eating. One hour of 1 year old fun was not worth the hours of throw up clean up!

How is Rose adjusting to a little brother?

    "baby"

How is Rose adjusting to not being THE baby anymore??? she’s doing really well. She is right at that age – 17 months – where she doesn’t want to be a baby anyway, she wants to be a big kid. She is usually chasing the older kids around and trying to keep up with whatever they are doing. I do try and make sure to give her the 1 on 1 time when she asks for it. Today we snuggled and watched Mickey Mouse together and she seemed to love it. She has decided that she doesn’t want her pacifier! kind of bad timing but if she is done then that is great. I think she’ll start talking more without it and I love that it is her choice. I have had the pacifier hooked to her shirt every day since birth up until this week so I am excited about the change. The side effects so far are a loud and vocal 1 year old and she seems to be waking up in the middle of the night… I am ignoring her and she goes back to sleep fairly quickly.

    combing hair with mom

look at these curls - that is a first in this house

Cali wanted a matching picture - Rose did not!

Some more about Rose – whenever i change her or Ray she says “poop poop” – it just makes ya smile. She always brings me her shoes and coat and gets louder and louder until she gets to play outside. If she sees anyone coming or going then she wants to go. The problem is it is still winter, yesterday was 67 degrees so we played outside but typically we are still in the cold and windy season. Rose also loves to put her head on Ray’s head then she says “ahhh, ahhh” and “baby baby baby” over and over. It is cute. Sometimes she tries to be a BIG baby, stealing his blanket, car seat or pacifier. We love our Rose.

Reading with Cali - being a big girl.

    Toddler

Rose is just the cutest thing ever when she walks. She is a true toddler and has a funny little side step. Mix that with super short legs and the big girl grin on her face and it is just awesome. She loves to be on the go and has improved her toddling 10 fold in the last week.

toddling around in her snow pants πŸ™‚

Trying to play in the crunchy old snow pile on our north facing lawn

We went to Trafalga for my brothers birthday party!  They did 3 rounds of laser tag. Cali and Packer even did it. They went in with Ben or their uncles, aunts, and cousins and had a blast. Prego’s and baby’s aren’t allowed to play so Rose and I tried to entertain ourselves for an hour or two… and Rose Toddled around the arcade area for a long time just dancing and being BIG.

Trafalga Fun - Brinlee sat out with us after the first round.

I ended up with the 4 youngest kids during the last round of laser tag. They all wanted to mini golf so we headed upstairs… They LOVE IT. Rose walked the entire course with her ball and club in hand.

    MINI GOLF

I’m feeling sentimental as the new baby is due any time now. I know that Rose is still a baby herself and we are going to have our hands full. She is a really good girl. She can be loud and crazy but if I get her down for naps when she needs them then all is right in the world. She still takes a morning and afternoon nap. She can go without one or the other but she does best with both. If we get her naps in then she plays happily during her free time. She loves to do whatever the other kids are doing. She likes dolls and the kitchen and bikes and LOVES BALLS (maybe she will be my athlete!) She really does a good job of playing and then when she gets tired she goes right to bed. Rose is my best snuggler. She will always lay on my shoulder or belly and keep coming back for more. She has become attached to her blanket in the last month or 2 and asks to bring it out of bed with her. She likes her milk but is not an addict like Benji and Cali were. Her vocab is just Mom, uh oh, dog and Ball. BUT the girl understands EVERYTHING you tell her. One of my favorites is when I ask if she is stinky and needs a diaper change and she will throw herself on the ground in change me position. Rose LOVES to brush her teeth. This might be her favorite thing ever and if she sees anyone in the bathroom then she must go in, climb up the step and brush her teeth – Cute, yes. Time consuming, yes. And she now demands toothpaste cause she knows the other kids get it. Speaking of Teeth – Rose just cut a tooth on Saturday – She has her top 4 and just got her 4th on the bottom to even things out. She also has 4 molars now. And she loves to eat.

everyones favorite lunch recently - anything cut up that can be stabbed with a toothpick

Benji and Rose have just discovered that it is fun to play with each other. Rose will go tackle him and then Benji will carry her or spin her or just wrestle and they both love it. It’s fun to see the big brother in action and it’s fun to see him realize that the little ones really like him and want to be with him.

Packer doesn’t play with her as much but he has started giving her lots of kisses and hugs and when I resort to putting a show on so dinner can get made those 2 love to chill on the couch together.

Cali and Rose – Cali is the little mom – she will do anything that is “taking care of Rose”. Get diapers, blankets… whatever. Cali has to be the one to give her her bottle in the morning and she has really gotten good at letting Rose have her way. The best is in the mornings. The girls have been sharing a room since the new year and they do great. They go to bed together at night and then in the mornings Rose squawks until she wakes Cali up and then Cali just plays with her in the crib until I come to get them (sometimes an hour later). Neither of them have realized that they can just open the door and come out πŸ™‚

Trying to get a cute picture before church but Rose would not look.

11am to 2pm is not a good church time for a 2 nap toddler

the next Sunday I tried again in their matching dresses...

Sunday Mornings are not her thing!

Rose is the only one that doesn’t realize that our lives are about to change with new baby. The other kids all get it and are Excited. I’m hoping for a smooth transition and lots of time to just snuggle all 5 of my babies!

    SHE WALKS

Rose took off this week! She walks. Still falls a lot but she walks by choice to get from point A to point B and she is getting better and better at it. All of our kids have waited until 15 months to start walking. MOst have enjoyed us coaxing them and making a big deal about walking to mom or dad and back and forth but Rose is just doing her thing. She doesn’t want our help. She does want a ball in hand or a blanket or bottle or at least to be walking towards a ball. It’s super fun to see her toddling around and falling and trying again. She is adorable right now.

    got my ball

what a big girl - do I dare take away the pacifier?

maybe I better get her off the bottle first

    look at that face

15 and a half month old crawls over to the cupboard, pulls out the bag of M&M’s and starts eating. She was so proud of herself. The look on her face was priceless. I just had to let her eat a few because it was too cute:

    Mandarins

I love Oroville Mandarins! I am savoring the bag I brought home from Christmas, tempted to drive out there and get another round of them πŸ™‚

    best mandarins ever!

a quote from Packer Boy: “corndogs aren’t my favorite thing anymore. It’s mandarins!”

Rose wanted to ride in this cart SOOO bad - 1/2 hour fit about it - she does not fit no matter how hard she tried.

explaining to Rose that the shopping cart is only for dolls to ride in

Rose was so mad that she couldn’t fit in Cali’s new “doll shopping cart”. Our grocery store has these exact ones so I think she really knows what they are and assumed that she should be riding in it. Very sad and funny all at once.

Rose is following her big sisters example and teaching herself how to walk. Potty training and walking are 2 big items on my get done before baby comes list and both girls have decided to take it upon themselves to accomplish their assigned tasks. I have been very tired and worn out so I am feeling blessed that these things are coming about on their own. Rose can walk BUT only if she doesn’t know she is walking. She walks 90% better and more often if she is carrying a toy or ball. I think she’ll be a true walker sometime next week. For now we are trying to video these first steps and get so excited every time she does it. On a side note, Cali is doing really well on potty training. She still has not mastered it and I rarely let her wear her panties BUT she is super close and the fact that I can’t remember the last time I had to change her is a great sign for me.

our cinderella showing off her latest potty prize

I had a Dr. Appointment for baby Clyde today. All seems to be well. I am down to 24 days! I am starting to get anxious. Mostly because I am getting bigger and bigger which is more and more tiring and makes for a grumpy mom. I took Rose to the Dr with me because she was up all night needing me to hold her. She has bronchiolitis. Medicine has been started so hopefully tonight we will both get caught up on our sleep. I also had my first round of Braxton Hicks contractions. I have had 4 babies but never the fake contractions. That was kind of weird but also frustrating if they are just fake. More rest and drinking more water seem to have helped stop them. Well, this did start as a Mandarin post, definitely didn’t end up that way… must be late. I’m going to bed.
