    ~~BEN took a trip to WISCONSIN~~

Ben got to go to Wisconsin last weekend! He and some of the guys that I grew up with planned to go to the BYU v Wisconsin football game & it was his Grandma Nettesheim’s 90th birthday party. It worked out perfectly for him to visit the mother land, see tons of family and get some guy time in:

What do you do when your husband leaves for 3.5 days? Mine doesn’t do it often so it is a big deal for the kids and I BUT we found ways to survive:

You build forts to make the kids think that laying on the couch and watching movies is AMAZINGLY FUN

One of the best things about Wisconsin: Kopps Custard!

Benji is Mr Sentimental still. We took this picture to send to Dad before they went to bed:

    "we miss Dad"

Grandma’s 90th Party was a huge success. So glad that Ben got to go and honor her and spend time with family.

The kids and I drove to Provo to say hi to my Grandparents. This isn’t an Amazing picture of Arden or Elma or Millie but I love it because it shows their home.

Grandparents and Great Grandparents are the best!

Another priority on Ben’s list was eating a Brat. It’s just one of those things you need to do when visiting Wisconsin and especially when going to an athletic event in Wisconsin. It’s comparable to Yogurts to Go, Taco Bell and Hula’s when I return to my mother land.

    YUM

I also took the kids to the park on Saturday. The weather has been wonderful but that is just a side note. I really wanted to show you how my kids took up all of the swings and I had to run back and forth trying to keep them all swinging. #naturalworkout

And then BYU played Wisconsin at Camp Randall and they got beat but the guys cheered hard and the bleachers didn’t crumble during the “jump around” and they had a blast.

    She is finally here!

    Millie Marie

I guess I have been a little busy cause this baby is almost 2 weeks old and I am finally posting. Here is her story:

    September 11, 2013  9:50am

Feeling like a good day to have a baby!! I came to the hospital for a non stress test at 9am. Everything looked really good. Fluids are plentiful. Placenta is working well. Then I had a few contractions and when I did the baby had a delayed drop in heart rate. Because it is delayed rather than with the contraction there is some stress and reason to induce. So… I was ready to go home and wait and… Then the Dr came in and said let’s do this. I called Ben. Called my mom. Went to the van and got my bag and now I’m waiting to be checked in at labor and delivery. I had a bad headache yesterday and it is lingering today. I was up every hour last night (contraction) so I’m feeling tired and now excited!! We get to meet Millie today 🙂

a selfie - I set the timer and then ran over for one last prego picture!

a selfie – I set the timer and then ran over for one last prego picture!

Dad is wrapping things up at work. Canceling a meeting or two, checking on GMA and the kids and then meeting me here! The sun has come out.

They monitored me from 11-12. Then at noon hooked up my iv with Pitocin and the antibiotic and fluids to keep me hydrated. @2:00 Dr Peterson said I’m at a 4 but only 60% effaced. So Ben and my mom are here. We are hanging out and waiting 2 more hours for the antibiotic 🙂

Contractions are pretty consistent but not too intense yet. 2:15pm from the south side room 515.

all day in this bed... with a nasty gown on... and starving cause I only ate part of a pop tart before leaving the house...

    RECAP

    9:00 non stress test

9:30 call Ben and head up stairs

10:30 get registered and checked in – 2.5cm

11:00 hooked up to monitors and checking baby and contractions. Mom and Ben come – kids with Kris and Michelle. Nurse says maybe we won’t induce – I say YES we will – no way am I going home at this point! Luckily my Dr. was on the same page…

12:00 Dr Peterson says to start antibiotic and Pitocin – 3cm

    2:00 Dr Peterson Checks in – dilated to a 4, 60%.

4:00 ready to break water and hook up EKG monitor BUT Dr hasn’t left the office yet and wants us to wait for him. more waiting.

5:30 nurses get the go ahead from Dr Peterson to break water. I’ve been contracting, peeing, standing up feels good, but pain is bearable and not very intense so no epidural yet.

6:00 break my water. 5 cm. nurse and intern have a hard time hooking in the new monitor and in the meantime I am fully efaced and 6cm.

Contractions kicked in as soon as the water broke. Nurse helps me through some hard contractions and mom takes over pushing my legs – I squeeze Ben’s hand to death… So the nurse finds the epidural man and he has a c section at 7:00 so epidural is now or never. I decide NOW.

    6:20 – hard contractions

6:25 – epidural man works his magic and I don’t feel any more contractions. 7cm.

6:30 – Nurse loses babies heart rate on monitors. Rate is way down. She’s frantically moving me from side to side to try to get a response from baby. Calling Dr and other nurses. Things start to get frantic and a little scary.

FINALLY - it is go time!

FINALLY – it is go time!

6:35 – Dr.s are in – Peterson sends for forceps just in case since she is still a little high. Nurse tells him heart rate drops. Nurse checks me again and I am complete – 10cm. ready.

From here we start delivering. I am loving the epidural because I still have full movement but no pain. Legs in stirrups. Push. Babies head is out but she is purple and the cord is around her neck. Dr Peterson tries to loop it around her head and the umbilical cord breaks!

At this point Peterson had moved the intern dr out of the way and was shouting orders. Intern pushing on my belly. Nurse lifting my back and I am being told to push as hard as I can now NOW! Push! Get the baby out. This was all lightning fast and the baby was on my lap and the cord was clamped and her coloring and breathing were good. It was an intense few minutes while the cord ruptured and we had to get her out and get the cord clamped before she lost too much blood from the cord.

6:47 was her official time of entry into this world.

7:00 she is in my arms and looking great and vitals are good.

So that is the story of little Millie – it was a long boring day of sitting and chill and trips to the bathroom and then… a whirlwind from 6:00 – 6:47 and a few urgent prayers and a PERFECT little girl!

    10 year Anniversary

Ben and I got married 10 years ago on August 2nd! We were able to get away for a few days this past week which is not easy when you have 5 young kids. Ben planned out our 3 day excursion and I just went along for the ride. It was fun. We packed a lot of stuff in Wednesday through Friday and came home Saturday morning.

    DAY 1 – wednesday

DAY 1 - Park City Outlets, Loco Lizard, Heber Creeper, Heber Fair

DAY 1 – Park City Outlets, Loco Lizard, Heber Creeper, Heber Fair

We got the girls dropped off at Jamie’s and the boys off to Michelle’s and started our adventure Wednesday late morning. We drove north to Park City and Ben told me that the plan was to remember and revisit some of our 10 years together. We did a lot of reminiscing on the drive and throughout the week. We started at the Park City Outlets – one of my favorite places to shop. From there we went to the Loco Lizard Cantina for lunch, we went for our 3rd anniversary and hadn’t been back. We LOVE the chips and salsa. SO GOOD. I knew I would regret it but I just kept eating and eating. We did a little more shopping and then we made our way to Midway where we checked in at the Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast. We have only been to one B&B and it was our Honeymoon and it was in Oroville and a lot of you know the story but it is a treasured memory and we hadn’t dared go back to a B&B until now. This one was great. We were right on a little pond and took a canoe ride and relaxed. That evening we went out and rode the Heber Creeper. It was a slow train ride around the back of Deer Creek. It was a wizard theme and we got sorted by the sorting hat and ate gross jelly beans and had birthday cake for Harry Potter. It was a fun ride and we really enjoyed the scenery more than anything. After that we weren’t quite ready to call it a night so we I made Ben take me to the local Fair Grounds and dream about riding the Gravitron or even the Ferris Wheel that someone refuses to go on!

    DAY 2 – thursday

DAY 2 - Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast, Pedicure, Sundance Tram, Stewart Falls, BBQ, Annie Get Your Gun

DAY 2 – Johnson Mill Bed and Breakfast, Pedicure, Sundance Tram, Stewart Falls, BBQ, Annie Get Your Gun

The breakfast at the Johnson Mill was really good and we enjoyed being out by the pond. I had a mini cry over breakfast as we talked about the past and our future. That morning I went and got a pedicure just because I could – I mean – I was free, I didn’t need to schedule a babysitter or anything! We left Heber/Midway and ended up at Sundance. We took the ski lift up the mountain and from there we hiked over to Stewart Falls! We did the Stewart Falls Hike as our first date after my mission! Ben made sure we could take the tram so I wouldn’t have to do hardly any uphill hiking 🙂 We came down from the Falls just in time to check in to our room at Sundance! and get my 4:00 nap in! That night we had a BBQ dinner at Sundance and then watched “Annie Get Your Gun” at their outdoor theater. Gotta Love a Good Musical!

    DAY 3 – Friday

DAY 3 - Shopping, Man of Steel, Cafe Molise, Brad Paisley Concert

DAY 3 – Shopping, Man of Steel, Cafe Molise, Brad Paisley Concert

Friday morning we slept in a little and then checked out and headed down the Provo canyon. I really wanted to go river rafting on the Provo River but I called the place that you rent from and they said they wouldn’t rent to a super prego woman. So, we went to Orem and shopped for a few items that we needed and then went to watch “Man of Steel” at 12:40. A strange time to be at the theater – but we enjoyed the show. After that we drove to down town Salt Lake and went to an early dinner at Cafe Molise. And then off to check in at our hotel. I tried to get my nap in but we didn’t have time :). We jumped back in the car and ended up at the Usana Amphitheatre. There were people everywhere as we made our way into the parking lot and then the venue. I eventually saw a Brad Paisley truck and got super excited. He is my favorite hands down. The concert was great – perfect way to end our adventure. We know all of his songs, he is a good entertainer AND to seal the deal he ended up coming down the aisle and right by us where they had a little stage for him to perform. I ‘almost’ touched Brad!

    just the two of us

    just the two of us

It was fun to spend so much time with Ben. We kept joking at how often I kept yawning – he really isn’t a  boring date! BUT I am 35 weeks pregnant with my 6th and this body IS tired 🙂 We laughed at how prego I looked in some of our pictures. We also thought about all the things we maybe could have/would have done if I wasn’t great with child BUT that has been a good part of our last 10 years 🙂 I am still impressed with how much we did and what a good plan Ben came up with to compensate my inability  to do anything ‘fun’ (river raft, zip line, ride anything, bike, hike, eat normal, not need a nap,…)

    see that belly!?

see that belly!? that’s hard to work with

Friday Night we stayed at the Hilton Home 2 somewhere near Salt Lake. Ben had ordered flowers, sparkling Cider and chocolates as part of the deal so when we came back from the concert we could have an official anniversary celebration… unfortunately the Hotel fell through and did not deliver. Fortunately we ended the adventure with a free hotel stay! We checked out that morning and came home to see the kids and my parents and Kelsey and Brady who had come to town for Benji’s baptism!  … that craziness continues in my next post.

I love Ben and had so much fun on our get away. It was fun and relaxing. He is perfect for me.

Benji has been wanting to hike up to the Y for quite some time. The Wisconsin cousins came to town and wanted to hike to the Y…. So Ben took our 3 oldest kids and went with the cousins and did a night hike from 8pm-11pm. The rule was that no one could be carried, they had to be big – and they did it!

Benji is getting so big. He has been my little shy guy for so long that it is weird to watch him grow up. It’s the little things I’m talking about. He actually comes home with skinned knees from trying the monkey bars or jumping off the ledge. He finally puts holes in his jeans and wears out the toes of his shoes! these are firsts! He likes to climb and wrestle and has even started to throw a ball just for fun, or practice kicking and dribbling! He asks us to play sports with him!

    IMG_20130527_095932

He is still sentimental and tender hearted but he is getting more adventurous. He saw Ben on the roof so he climbed up to join him. They cleaned the gutters and talked about how much they were going to miss our house with the big tree! 🙂

    BEN had a birthday!

Ben had a birthday. It was on Thursday. The kids made him open his presents first thing in the morning! He went out to lunch with the work crew. After school we took balloons and cookies to the office… we were loud but he loves us. We played with the new remote control car until dinner time. We had smoothies! We fixed the car, then raced it some more. We sang and ate cake. We put the kids to bed and then Ben’s parents stopped by to wish him a happy birthday. It was a good day. We love Ben. He is awesome.

    RSL

Utah doesn’t have a professional football team or a professional Baseball team but we have SOCCER. On Saturday night Ben and I got to go to a REAL SALT LAKE game. Ben has been following them closely this season. Mozy is a recent sponsor for RSL and we have spent several Saturday nights with the game on. We got to go to the game with no kids and FRONT ROW, MID FIELD. It was simply awesome!  We enjoyed every detail of the field, the little fouls and technique. We had a great night out.

    Tired Legs

Last week has been titled Tired Legs Week. It got the name because I indeed had tired legs at all times during the week 🙂 We went sledding, snowboarding, and skating! I took a recovery day between each activity. It was a fun but tiring week. I must be getting OLD ’cause I’m pretty sure I could have done all 3 of those activities in 1 day back in my high school/college prime :).

Monday was a holiday but Ben had to work so I met up with Ryan and Kelsey and we took the kids sledding at Rock Canyon Park. It WAS AWESOME! The sledding was great. Benji, Packer and Cali did awesome. They just grabbed a sled and went for it over and over again. The hill was well groomed and the walk back up was packed down so it was easy sledding. I pictured myself holding kids and everyone crying and being wimpy and only lasting a run or two. Rose did get taken out on her first run and decided it was too scary but she just watched from the top and pushed my sled down at least 20 times. Tara was nice enough to take Raymond for me so I didn’t have to bundle him up and try to keep him happy. It was by far the best sledding this little family has done. We spent the rest of the day with my family. Waffles and games at our house. Joel and Brady and company came after work and Ben came after his work at 9:30 🙁

Tuesday was recovery and scouts and back to our regular schedule except Ben had another 15 hour day (blah). LaNell came and played and had dinner with us so that helped switch it up a little. On Wednesday Ben had work meetings all morning and then I met up with him around noon and we went snowboarding at Sundance with some of his co-workers. I hadn’t been on the slopes for 3 years! So it was good to be there and the sun really did come out up there above the inversion. I was able to make it down the mountain without falling but I wasn’t doing any jumps or funny stuff. Eventually our legs started to give out and we crawled back to the van to head home before our time was up. Wimpy but Fun and when you have 5 dependents waiting foryou at home it’s easier to not push yourself beyond your limits!

Thursday and Friday are a blurr. I’m sure I cleaned the same living room and kitchen multiple times and changed lots of diapers and tried to get nap time in and… Then for date night we went to my favorite Thai restaurant with Michelle and Udine. And then we went to Classic Skating to try my new roller skates! I barely made it around the track my first time. My legs were shaking, my ankles were trying to bend and it was just painful but… I stuck with it and started to get a feel for real skates. Ben was also a newby on skates and used Raymond’s stroller to keep his balance. So, when did roller blades go out of style? Everyone at the skating rink was wearing roller skates. I think 3 people had blades on. In my day we paid 3$ extra to get the blades. Anyway it was a fun date night and then I was off to my 11:30pm soccer game. And Saturday evening Ben and I lost another co-ed soccer game but we had tone of fun and Ben had a sweet goal this time.

Sunday we were able to have my 5 siblings over that live here in Utah. We still get together most Sundays. Ben still cooks for all of us. Joel’s fiance Megan has got her foot in the door though and has contributed some delicious sides and desserts. We are enjoying getting to know her better before the March 30th wedding. She is great. It’s good to have Kelsey back from China and the brothers are always good for some laughs. Today we have the 4 Falabella kids coming to stay for the week! My kids are bouncing off the walls excited. I think it is going to be a good chill week with lots of mouths to feed. I am out of time. No pictures, sorry.

The 8th Annual Great Pumpkin Party

We had family and friends over last friday for our Great Pumpkin party. The kids look forward to this all month. We worried about the cold weather and wondered if any leaves would fall. We popped lots of popcorn and confirmed that the hot chocolate would be here. It ended up being a little chilly for the kids but none of them cared.  Ben hid Halloween Lego Characters in the backyard for the kids to hunt for while we waited for it to get dark.We raffled off the best seat in the house along with a few other prizes this year with the neighborhood really getting into it.! We had lots of people come and WE LOVED IT. 8th year was a success!

my brother Ryan took good care of Raymond for me. Don’t they look cozy?

Benji hanging out with some of his buddies before the movie.

Packer, Cali and Rose snuggled in with friends and cousins. The boys invited a few school friends to come so that was exciting for them.

    MOVIE TIME!

the after party: some cousins usually stay for a 2nd feature!
