    off to a rough start

    can you hear me crying?

Cali was playing very nicely this morning until she fell down with the bat mobile and gave herself a bloody lip ๐Ÿ™ Then she started following me around the house and I ended up smashing her fingers in the door and then caught her in the eye with the zipper on Benji’s coat! that was all within 5 minutes as we were trying to get out the door to take Benji to school. The picture is not from any of these accidents though… if you zoom out you’ll see that Packer has the Thomas train and she wants it. Life is hard.

    i want Thomas

Ben came home from his Wisconsin trip with Green Bay Packers gifts for all…

Benji had a jersey but it was #4 Favre and he figured out that #4 is not in the team anymore so he needed a new number.

Cali is our little sports fan and was over due fir a girlie jersey.

Packer already has a jersey so he got snuggly jammies.

    "GO PACKERS" a fan already!

Ben had a blast with his siblings and parents. If Emily could have come it would have been the whole family!

    Yorbing!?

I went yorbing with YorbNation – might have been the SCARIEST thing I have ever done – –

Mom, Ben and I posing with the Yorb.

or… having given birth one friday night and then strapping myself into the yorb the next friday night with my week old baby waitiing at the top… ร‚ย my motherly instincts were probably in high gear and blocked out the crazy fun-ness of it, I was SCARED. Just plain scared as I rolled down the hill, harnessed in, with no control, heels over head, catching glimpses of sky and grass.

Ben strapped in across from me!

strapped in and excited - ready to get rolled down the hill!!

So you get inside this big ball within a ball:

Here we are ready to go - - 1, 2, 3, Yorb Nation!!

and then you get rolled down the hill and it is quite a ride.ร‚ย Ben and my brothers and sister say it is the best thrill around. (I plan on trying it again someday when I am not so tuned in to my motherly instincts.)

Here's a daytime shot of the ball.

And the Yorb out in the middle of the park where you stop rolling.

And after my roll down the mountain I tried to talk my mom out of going. I told my her not to do it- that it was too scary. Mom asked me if it hurt – no – it does not hurt. So She went for it! My mom went yorbing!, grandmother of 19! and all she had to say after screaming most of the way down was that it felt like she’s been inside the washing machine!

    Brady getting mom all harnessed!

    mom and kelsey!

If anyone is due for a thrill ride, something that makes roller coasters seem wimpy, check out Yorb Nation, or let me know and I’ll hook you up with them.

    SOCCER SEASON

We are back in the thick of soccer season. Ben is coaching Benji’s team again! They have a lot of the same kids from last year and are having a lot of fun. Benji still hasn’t learned to go to the ball – his first step is always backwards. BUT he loves being out there and loves being on the team. He loves that they have a new color jersey this season and he lives for the snacks. We had a half time talk about going to the ball as fast as you can even if other guys are going for it to. He made a conscious effort and did get 3 or 4 touches after that.

    BENJI - GO RED DRAGONS!

    Benji is #5 this season.

Ben just started up our indoor family team as well. I am obviously on the bench this season but I love going to the games and watching and just enjoying soccer.

    Wyoming Get Away

Where are we? Is that a huge sign for Mexican food?

OK don’t be jealous but we went to Wyoming Saturday night!! We went to Evanston and saw Sara Evans and Danny Gokey at the Uinta County Fair! Really I never thought you could head a few hours North East and actually be entertained BUT we did and we were. The concert was great. I LOVED Sara Evans, we just sang along with her on every song. Probably the best concert I’ve been to.

We went to celebrate 7 years of marriage! We ended up at the mexican restaurant – that usually happens when I choose. I bet we’ve had mexican food for half of our anniversaries… the little taco shop in Provo, Loco Lizard, Homemade Fajitas and now Don Pedros ๐Ÿ™‚ (sorry Ben – I think he’s chosen Tepanyaki, Pizza Factory, and Brazilian food ร‚ย – He is much more well rounded than I am)

    I love chips and salsa!

The town was small and the Fair was pretty much non existent as far as fairs go – they had a bathroom and a food vendor and the concert so… after dinner we picked some top row seats so that pregnant lady could have some back support and waited for American Idols own: Danny Gokey who has officially gone country. The “people watching” from up there ร‚ย in the grand stand was AMAZING, I know there are fellow people watchers out there and man is the Uinta County Fair a good place for that. Gokey put on a good show but it got cut short when the lightning kicked in around 8pm. We were sent to find shelter and wait it out – luckily we had gotten there early enough for rock star parking and so we waited out the rain and lightning in the car.

Self Portrait - waiting for Gokey - We love each other ๐Ÿ™‚

At 9:30 Sara Evans came out and put on a great show. For this part we went right up front near the stage and sang and danced and enjoyed the company of crazy country fans. We especially enjoyed the goofy drunk guy next to us, he had some great moves, gave Ben a big high Five when he realized I was pregnant and mostly he just made sure that the 2 shorty’s had a good spot to see the stage.

The stage and set up and all the wonderful people that we spent the evening with

Today is our official anniversary! The time has flown by and I couldn’t have asked for a better 7 years. Maybe the next 7 will be just as good…

    BOYS CAMP

    Friday Night - July 30, 2010

Benji and Packer have been so excited for the Father and Sons camp out with the ward. They call it ‘boys camp’ and think it is so cool that they get to go with Dad, and Cali and I DO NOT get to go. Well, the campout lived up to all of it’s glory! They went up Friday night and made camp, had dinner with the ward, went exploring, tried out the playground, made it through the program, made some pudgy pies over the fire and then got their second wind when they got in the tent for the night. There is just something so exciting about tents, sleeping bags and flash lights!!

EXPLORING, Ben said they had a rock collection and Benji was organizing them biggest to smallest

    Good Morning

Packer was SUPER EXCITED about this breakfast - - Dinosaur Instant Oatmeal!

They had a blast up there and Ben enjoyed the time with just the boys. I love this tradition.

    Gotta love this one!

    MEAT LOAF??

    YUM or YUCK?

Ben made Sunday dinner and surprised us all with Meat Loaf!! I HATED meatloaf as a kid. I remember choking it down. I was a picky eater and there were lots of things that I didn’t eat but I remember meat loaf being on the top of that list along with Cauliflower Soup. Well – I am happy to say that I enjoyed the meatloaf, it was even yummy and we’ll be eating it again Tuesday night for leftovers ( I also happen to LOVE Cauliflower soup now too). Now the kids seemed to have a different opinion of the meal… Cali ate a lot of potatoes and a little meat and got away with it. Packer ate everything but the meat and then with encouragement ate the meat loaf in a few ginormous bites. Benji was not a happy eater. He was literally gagging it down. Picking out the onions, swallowing with water and doing his best to eat it so that he could have a smoothie that night. I felt so bad for him because I KNOW that it doesn’t taste good and he wasn’t just being PICKY. It was very hard to watch him suffer through that process. Anyone else out there LIKE meat loaf?? I don’t think this will become a regular meal around here but it was a nice change from the regular 10 meals that I know how to make.

On a side note – – my husband has discovered “The Hunger Games”, I don’t think he has read a novel since before we got married but this one has finally captured his attention. I’m supposed to be the reader. I’m supposed to be the one ignoring all to get through the next chapter and picking up the book during any and every free moment. I’m really not used to this. I think he is almost done with it though, then our house won’t be so quiet at night and I might not get as many evening blog posts out! I think I like him reading. I just need to make sure that I have a book on hand now.

    Quick Silver Soccer

Today was the last day of Benji’s soccer team. Ben and Pete were the coaches and they had a good year. Benji still stepped away from the ball today instead of toward it BUT he did get a few real kicks and when he got nailed in the face he only cried for a minute and didn’t come out! Maybe next year will be better.

it's cool to sit on your ball while you cheer for your team
