baby blanket and Moms and BEN
Ben’s mom makes a baby blanket for each of her grandkids. Cali was part of a baby boom so hers didn’t come at birth but it is a super cute blanket and she has been snuggling with it since it came in the mail.
Mother’s day was awesome. I think it was awesome because Ben spoiled me as always  BUT it was also his birthday so I wanted to be doing things for him. So in the end we were both helpful and loving and there were lots of gifts given and meals cooked (by Ben) and cleaned ( by me – I’d much rather have that job) and it was just a good day. Ben was depressed to reach the next bracket in survey world – no longer part of the 29-34 group, but he is coping :). Ben and I also have such great moms. They are there when you need them. They are helpful but not nosy, bossy or pushy. They offer advice but only when asked for it. They are always anxious to see us and sad to leave us. They are patient and kind, they play with our kids and just love being moms and Grandmothers. We love them 🙂
P.S.-Tonight we get to go see the Jazz fight for their lives!
pps – no pics of birthdays or mothers day 🙁 hmmm
ppps – The Hancock’s and Aunt Kathy came over for dinner. The food was excellent. I lost every game and the kids played great.
pppps – this was the first year that my kids were old enough to make lots of mothers day stuff. I got a lot of tootsie pop flowers, a flower pot, a card, hand prints and foot prints and lots and lots of hugs – thanks kids. And Benji was the first one up to sing with the primary this year. He did great.
pppsss – what does P.S. really mean and can you add multiple PS’s like i just did?
Biker Dudes
Ben busted out the motorcycle last week! Partly because the van was in the shop so we needed transportation and partly because the weather was amazing.
The boys were dying to go for a ride and then continued to wear their helmets and ride THEIR BIKES!
I took it for a ride and about crashed on take off – But I got control and continued on as if I knew what I was doing and from there … No Stalling, no almost crashes, a good first ride around the neighborhood. Cali was itching for a ride but as soon as she heard the engine she was done. She did the same with the waverunners in St. George.
Daddy Time is Always FUN Time
SNOW BOARDING!
Ben and I went snow boarding Friday night!
I was going to put the pictures of all of our jumps and tricks but… well it was really cold so we didn’t get the camera out much and it was kind of dark since it was night skiing and oh yeah – we didn’t do any jumps or tricks! I think we barely made it down the mountain 5 times!! I still love it though. I love cruising down the mountain. I love that we have our own boards so we don’t have to rent and I love that Sundance is so cheap and SO CLOSE.
Today after church the boys found the snow goggles in the van – it was snowing a little so they had to go try them out. Aren’t they adorable!?
I love Sundays. I love the day I teach because then I am off for the next 3 to 4 weeks. Â And I love that Cali was licking the ketchup off of her plate after dinner last night. Check it out…

the good and the bad
Ben and I had some sad news last week and I decided that it would be ok to post it now. I use this blog as one of my journals and last Thursday was a sad day but it was one that we will remember. We lost our baby last Thursday, we had just told family and a few friends that we were expecting our fourth. We were excited. Benji was blessing it in our prayers. I was exhausted. We were gearing up for the craziness of a 16 month old and a new baby all at once. Just throwing around some baby names. Packer wants a brother. Benji wants a Sister. And then in a flash it was all over. I miscarried. I cried all night. Ben comforted me all night and day. The Dr. confirmed our fears and now it is done. It’s a weird thing to lose a baby before you ever have it or see it. I know that I can’t see the whole picture so I trust that Heavenly Father does and he has our best interest in mind as we learn and grow in this life. I don’t know the technicalities of the body and the spirit and if that miscarried baby will be a part of our life or not. I am sad to think of what might have been and how that little one would have been a part of our family but I feel comfort and peace after this trial.
The Demolition Derby
We went to the Utah County Demolition Derby last night! What is it about seeing cars ram each other that is just so amazing! If I didn’t have children I think I would enter the Powder Puff event. I’ve always wanted to drive into another car and smash stuff with no consequence and no injury. Good thing I didn’t find out about these Derby’s until 5 years ago, just after Benji was born. We have been every year since and we always have a great time. And we always say that we won’t bring the kids next time but… we always bring them.
Last Night’s group -Sean and Larry and fams (Bens old roommates)
Some of last nights action. We also got a fire, a knockout, and a few barriers knocked over.
I just found our previous years at the derby – here’s a flash back…
2005 – in Heber City.
We got home late and were exhausted but it was fun and I’m glad that we carried on the tradition this year. And it was the first year that Benji didn’t plug his ears the whole time!
On Vacation from Vacation
That is me this week… I am staying home and relaxing and catching up on sleep and getting everything unpacked and my house put back in order. Vacation is exhausting!
I spent the 31st, 1st, and 2nd in Las Vegas with some of my O-town girls. We had a true girls weekend including talking, staying up late, eating, lots more talking, shopping, more eating and more talking. I am grateful to have grown up in Oroville California and had such a strong group of friends to learn and grow with.
I defined the theme of the weekend as “Blessings in Disguise!” We really are blessed. Here are a few pics of Some of the Craziness!
On Monday morning – the 3rd, Ben left for Scout Camp in Yellowstone at 4:00 a.m. He spent the  week there as Scout Master so I spent the week in Pioneer California at my sisters new cabin with a bunch of my family!! It was a long car ride but a very fun trip.
We both got home on Saturday the 8th and barely had energy to get the kids in bed, but I would do the same trips again in a heart beat (you’ll have to ask Ben if he feels the same.)
I’m posting more pictures right before this post so if you are here to see pics of the cabin trip then keep on reading…
