Rose had her 4 month checkup

Rose went to the Dr. on Monday for her 4 month well check… and has been grouchy ever since!

    4 months 14 pounds 24 inches

She actually holds on to toys now!

She was the talk of the Dr.s office and did all of her big smiles and laughing for them. Did I mention that those were the only smiles this week? Rose rivals Benji for my easiest baby. She is so fun and I till just love to hold her whenever I can.

attention span of my 2 year old

On Tuesday I read ALL of these books to Cali before her nap!! how did she negotiate that??? She loves to be read to and I figure i might as well jump on that opportunity and let her soak in all the information she can from these books.

    a favorite

“no more monkeys jumping on the bed” – that’s the part she tries to sing along with. She also just realized that Ben reads to the boys in their room after family prayer (they are reading Fablehaven – i just started it today and I am hooked.) so now I have to read a book or 2 to her in her bed at night. We’ve tried to let her listen in with the boys but she just can’t keep herself under control.

Cali also feels the need to stand on her head upside down when we read this funny monkey page.

you can find me here at least 5 times a day

Benj just took this picture of me and I think I’ll put it in his baby book because this is where I am sitting when he goes to school and this is what i do right after we pick him up from school… he might think I’m sitting here the whole day :).

Cali really wanted in the sink with Rose - she ended up being a great help!

    Valentines

    Sponge Bob!

Packer chooses ‘sponge bob valentines’ every year – maybe cause its the one show he knows I won’t let him watch.

    isn't she so grown up?

Cali was very happy to get Tinkerbell valentines – – and she devoured her valentine candies as fast as they were given to her. Ben got me an amazing gift! It was a little box so I thought it might be the cheesy heart pendant covered in diamonds on all of the jewelry commercials – you know from Zales. 🙂 Lucky for me it was not diamonds 🙂 it was a coupon for a womens 3v3 soccer team!! I love it and can’t wait to play.

i also love that Cali took the time to sign all of her Valentines.

Benji loved getting all of the valentines from school – but true to character he has only eaten the candy from 1 or 2 of them. He wrote this valentine story at school:

Benji, valutips YOU Giv Trees ad cars

translation: valentines you give treats and cards. although I’m thinking trees and cars would be pretty cool valentines to get 🙂 We went with strawberry waffles for the red dinner and to end the day I fell asleep to my yearly valentine chick flick movie.

    Day to Day

    our day to day life:

It seems like I either having everything or nothing going on… for example the weeks that I teach Joy School are busy just from planning and prepping for that but then they always seem to be the same weeks that I teach Relief Society so I get to add the planning and prep for that lesson as well and then it’s parent teacher conferences, birthdays, Dr.s, friends or family in town or whatever that week may bring. I actually like the busy weeks better because I am 99% more productive those days than on the days where I really have no where that I have to be. Unfortunately I still function on deadlines so when I don’t have one I am lazy. This is an attribute that needs fixing and I am at least aware ad admitting that and hopefully will be able to make changes in the near future.

Rose is just starting to be entertained by toys - the other kids are very much entertained by the baby toys also.

Benji has had a busy week. He kept bringing home phone numbers from classmates at school and I finally let him call Bradley, now they are little buddies. Benji went to his house on Monday. On Tuesday he went to Lalo’s. Wednesday we went to my Grandparents and today we had Lance over to play. He still loves school but he has started to put his homework off a little rather than doing it all Monday afternoon. He is getting good at reading and has just started writing. We had a parent teacher conference tonight and Miss Mynti sang praises about his classroom behavior. He told me this week that he doesn’t like being the oldest because he has to do EVERYTHING.

the big brother most likely watching "Ben 10"

Yesterday I left Rose on the blanket and went to do laundry or something – -when I came back I found my cute Cali playing with all of her babies…

    the little mommy 🙂

LaNell was over tonight for her weekly visit and just brought me home from our basketball game. I wore #10 and any high school friends reading this will know what number Lan was. We remain undefeated – I think Anderson and Ruby would be proud of us 🙂 Good Night.

WHY DO THEY MAKE GETTING A PASSPORT SO STINKING HARD!! I am a US citizen. I always have been and always will be – please give me the documents I need to leave the country and return a few days later, seriously – – -it’s like they have to take extra precautions so that people that shouldn’t have one can’t get one or something! oh wait – that is what they are doing… well I will be very happy when I get that little blue book in my hand.

a little pudding party for family night

My baby really is big enough for the bumbo 🙁

    I hate mud ...

no comment except..i love my dog, i love my dog, i love my dog… and I really want new carpet 🙁

I love that Rose loves to be wrapped up tight.

    swaddled tight

I love this picture of my littlest girly.

Last week we went and visited some friends that used to live in our ward. Avery was Benji’s first little non family friend – they were both being super shy.

and I love that Packer and Cali started playing “chubby cheeks” all by themselves – fun!

Ben’s parents don’t get to see the kids open their gifts from them so I wanted them to see some of the fun…

Cali showing us how she cut the pear!

Benji unwrapping his remote control car.

Packer smashing stuff with his crane.

They have really enjoyed their gifts. Benji took his car along to show his friend in Kamas and is really good about letting his brother and sister have a turn. All the kids have enjoyed Packers handy manny set – we just realized that the crane tower can turn into a crawler tractor – pretty cool. And Cali is queen of the kitchen these days. She’s gone right over and played kitchen every morning this past week. Thanks for all of the fun Christmas – Ben, Rose and I love our gifts also, in fact we are having a Crepe Party and Ben has been searching out our raquetball options.

Thanks So Much! Hopefully we’ll be with you next Christmas to enjoy the fun together.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This was our new years party! can you believe it’s already been a week – slow down 2011!!

Bringing in the New Year with baby Rose

We hung out at the parents house all night…

The boys - Ben, Kevin, Mike ad Dad.

    Liz, Mom, and Jana.

    Sleeping kids.

We told the kids that it was a party night. At about 8pm they started asking when the party was cause it was just another night with cousins so… we played fruit basket tip over, the leader game and Doggy doggy where’s your Bone. Then we gave them a bunch of treats and let them watch a movie. By midnight they were all asleep except Jaydn(6) and when he heard the fireworks going off down the street he was wishing that he was asleep 🙂

I’m Excited for this new year!!

    Week After Christmas

The last few years we have spent the week leading up to Christmas and Christmas Day at home. We do a lot of things with Ben’s family during that time and we really enjoy just watching our kids on Christmas morning and being able to give them all of our attention. Then the day after Christmas we leave the toys and gifts and jump in the van to spend the week in California at my parents house. We are good friends with highway 80 now but this is the first year that we’ve had to deal with storms and watching the weather. Donner Pass has just been snowy this season. Anyway, we made it there with a storm entering the great state of Nevada where it felt like we were the only car on the road and we were making our own tracks in the snow covered road and then as we were leaving NV we had to inch along in bumper to bumper traffic and icy roads to get down out of the mountains. But luckily the Packers game was on the radio and we still made it in 12ish hours ( I don’t remember exactly). On the way home we got lucky and just missed the storm again so we had nice clear roads and even blue skies for part of the trip – we managed to make the return trip in 10 1/2 hours! That’s about as fast as it gets without really speeding. The trick for us was only stopping twice instead of three times… next time we might shoot for one stop! Our kids would be amazing if they could pull that off – actually my bladder would be amazing if we could pull that 🙂

Anyway, we had a super fun week with my parents and some of my siblings. We left Sunday and didn’t come back until the next Monday. My mom gave a good summary of our week in her email to my brother Sean on his mission so rather than typing it all up again I’ll insert her summary here:

Well, it doesn’t seem like Jana and Ben have been here a whole week!  They’re all packed up and leaving in the morning; Shannon, Kelsey and Brady left this morning, with Josh and Katie- they made it safely- we were pretty worried about them going over Donner but they didn’t have to chain up, and made pretty good time.  We all went to dinner at Hulas on Monday night; Also on Monday day we went to the park and the guys all played frisbee golf, then we went to get yogurts;  Tuesday Joel had to leave to go back to Utah- they left at 4:00 a.m. to beat the storm; we played at the church and rode the little cars that Kev and Liz’s kids got for christmas- the funniest was watching Cali and Ella try to drive- Ella would press on the accelerator with her leg stretched as far as she could while Cali steered- very cute! That evening after we fixed dinner, Christy and Rob left for the cabin… Wednesday we went shopping, returned a few things (just the females:) ), fixed a late dinner, played games- (of course during any down time there were games being played- lots of Dominion, some nertz, rook, ticket, hand and foot, etc…) Thursday Dad and I both worked, kev and Liz and J and B played some more frisbee golf at the park, then that night I babysat while they got together with all their friends- about 20 kids- they went to dinner at the Depot then played games at Kevin and Liz’s. The kids all watched Gordy and had a sleepover in the family room.  New Year’s Eve we had a bunch of snacks and just hung out here, playing games- Shannon went to Becca’s, had a few friends over there,  Brady and Kelsey went to the YSA Party in Gridley- they went all out with fun activities for that-  New Year’s Day we went to the church and played B-ball- that was fun, then had dinner, watched football, watched the kids playing- all in all it was a fun, happy week!  I love my family- missed you and Ryan and Tara and John and Tracie, but at least we got to talk to everybody:)

Uncle Brady entertaining all of the nieces and nephews.

Rose got some cute new dresses from Grandma and she got held a lot, even spoiled - in fact she has needed a lot of attention this week as we adjust back to normal life.

Pacen and Benji were so excited to show each other their new toys - the DS and the PSP! N-E-R-D-S

Chillin with Grandpa on our last day...

I always love “going home” – and after 14 years of not officially living there anymore it still feels like home. I spent my entire childhood in that exact house and a lot of the people that influenced me as a kid are still there. I love it. I got to see some of my good friends from high school and not only reminisce but also make some new memories on the soccer field, at the Depot, playing the music game and on the basketball court. Peace Out Oroville – we’ll be back soon 🙂

Santa brought the family a PSP = one happy 5 year old!

Cali trying on my new shoes!
