    BENJI:
BENJI: Mom, I bet I know why Chuck E Cheese has Pizza. MOM: Why? BENJI: Because they are round just like the tokens are.

(I’m not sure if that’s what the chuck e cheese marketing team was going for but there you have it. He came and found me after seeing the commercial just to let me know that he thinks he figured out why they have pizza there 🙂

    Benj

Benji went to school today with his hood on – I didn’t realize that he was going to leave it on all day. Apparently he did that yesterday too! I’m thinking a kindergarten-er hiding under his hood all day is not ideal.

    PACKER:

Have you ever wished that your 3 year old WAS NOT potty trained?? I wish that a lot  – in fact I think that every time I clean my bathroom! I debate if I would rather just be changing a nasty diaper than scrubbing the nasty bathroom. Anyway, He is very cute in his backwards pants though.

    CALI:

Is this girl a mini me or what?? and  I am not just talking about the scraggly hair… we bought her a cute little witch costume for Halloween and it came today and we tried to get her to try it on and… she refused. She liked the hat but refused to try the dress or tights. We had the brothers put their costumes on to show her and get her excited to wear hers but she still refused. She ended up putting on Benji’s mask and then finally lighting up when we pulled out Packers Spiderman from last year and let her wear it- it fits her perfectly!

    Cal

But hopefully you will not see 3 little “boys” out tricker treating with Ben on Halloween, we still have our fingers crossed that there will be a little Witch accompanying them.

    ROSE:

This new little baby has been asleep all day… She was awake for a couple of hours this morning and then out from 11am until 7pm. I tried a few times to wake her and feed her but she’d eat a little and go right back to sleep each time. I’m nervous for how she’ll sleep tonight… it’s almost bedtime so hopefully she doesn’t decide to wake up right when I need to sleep.

    Hancocks – Then and Now

    July 2010

    September 2010

The Hancock’s came to visit a couple weekends ago. Erica and I were in Heaven Saturday morning playing BIG Boggle and then again on Sunday we managed to get another big game going!

The kids just loved playing together. They picked up right where they left off – hopefully that’s how it will always be. They are all such good friends.

    July 2010

    September 2010

It has been fun having the same due date as Erica but I think it would be safe to say that we are both ready for these babies to be born. ( and yes Erica I am hiding behind you in this last pic – sorry 🙂 )

    Thanks for coming Hancocks!

    My WALKS

I was playing basketball and soccer twice a week until half way through this pregnancy and then I just quit everything. The other day ( two months ago) I was literally out of breath after going up my little stair case in my house – NOT ACCEPTABLE. So I’ve started walking….

the first day I took Packer and Cali in the stroller and walked 2 miles – I wore my flip flops and came home feeling like the bottoms of my feet were bruised. So next walk I put my nice new running shoes on that I used to wear daily until summer hit and by the end of that walk my toe nails were killing and I almost had a heal blister! OUCH. My Chaco flip flops have been deemed my best walking shoes for now – especially now that I can’t reach my toes to tie my shoes! Anyway – making an effort to have  a healthier pregnancy has been good for me. I haven’t had high blood pressure at all this time and I just feel better.

Cali loves our walks! She used to hate the stroller so this is a great break through. She now goes out in the garage and sits in the stroller and ‘asks’ to go, actually she throws a huge fit until we go… so if you see her and I walking down to the corner and back you know that she was ready for a walk and not me. Another good sign for Cali is that she has started pointing out babies – every time she sees a baby she points to it and says baby and is very interested – I’m seeing this as a good sign since little sister will be here soon. She can also do grocery stores again! For the last several months I have avoided shopping when at all possible because you are guaranteed a huge fit if she is with you. everything from Not staying in the cart to having to eat whatever she sees – NOT FUN – so – she is better now 🙂 I can return to shopping and not rely on Ben so much 🙂 until this new little baby comes in a week and then I’ll rely on him more – sorry Honey!

Cali loves dress ups and babies now!

    This Weeks One Liners

    “Mommy, where are you?”   Cali

“Did Jesus Christ make the Cheeto Man?”   Packer

“I wish it were Saturday already.”   Benji

That about sums up our week. Cali wanting mommy and talking a lot. Packer, loving learning and asking lots of questions. Joy School was at our house so he and Cali enjoyed that. And Benji busted out the Saturday comment on Tuesday – welcome to the wonderful world of school buddy – but he can’t deny that he has a good time at kindergarten every day. Everything looked good with the baby at my Wednesday appointment. We’ll see what next Wednesday brings. I’m not anxious yet but I am getting really excited. I think we finally decided on a name but we will wait for her arrival before we make that official. My tummy is really big now so I will probably be sitting here on my couch for the next few weeks if you need me…. or I might get the itch to leave the house every day in anticipation of being home bound in the near future. Anyway… bring on the weekend.

    More on Potty Training

When your newly potty trained child tells you that they need to go to the bathroom it is really smart to listen and find a bathroom right away. Bad things will happen if he tries to hold it 🙁 enough said.

Cali is getting some new teeth!

Can you see those little whites popping up? and we are waiting for her hair to get longer and get out of her eyes.

She also had a fit yesterday morning while getting dressed until I realized that she needed to wear her Green Bay shirt like her brother. And  the girl doesn’t talk much or have a big vocabulary but she managed to tell me plain as day when she wanted a cookie.

Kindergarten Update: He loves it! We were not surprised when Benji brought home the ‘sound bag’ from school yesterday. He said that his teacher picked him because he was quiet with arms folded and looking at her first. He is the king of little rules like that 🙂 Other high lights are Recess, Magic 1, 2, 3, and M&Ms for learning the letter ‘m’…

I have had an extremely lazy week, recovering from a busy weekend and gearing up for another BUSY weekend and this body is getting harder and harder to make it do what I want. Glad it is Friday and excited to see friends and family this Labor Day weekend! 🙂

    Potty Training

    The Pillow Pet Chart!!!

Benji helping him color the last box!

    I DID IT!

    'it's a pillow...'

Packer officially completed his “Potty Chart” and is now the proud owner of a PILLOW PET ! He is so happy. They have done a great marketing job on PBS and all of my kids want one SOOO BAD. Packer told me today that he should be on the TV now, and Benji told me that “it’s only a 20$ gift when I told him they cost way to much to just go buy him one. Anyway, It was a glorious day for Packer and a hard day for Benji but such is life. I AM JUST GLAD TO HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD THAT DOES NOT NEED DIAPER CHANGING – woot woot!

hmmm she wants to be big. It didn't work though - I am still changing her diapers.

    The HAPPIEST boy on earth

and the SADDEST kids ever! - life is not fair

    Cali and Markers

    look like trouble?? SHE IS!

She loves MARKERS, Every cute little girl needs marker on her face!!

    Demolition Derby

    the handlebars

@ the Demolition Derby! 8th year in a row!!

The Trophy - that we did NOT win 🙁 sorry Benji

    Pickle Eaters

    more pickles please

What kids actually like pickles?? these two do! Packer begged to bring them to the dinner table and Cali screamed when they were all gone so we had to go get the other jar.      yuck

    PG POOL

We went to the pool on Friday!

Loves his goggles and loves the freedom of the tube

you never know what a day at the pool will be like with these two 🙂

My only complaint… Why can’t any of the pools  have open swim in the morning hours before my children are exhausted and need naps? The pool from 11am to 1pm would be so nice… In the meantime we go a few times a year and stay as long as the youngest child will let us.

Cali in her goggles, ready to jump... she'll wear and do whatever the bros. are doing. AND she and Packer have successfully bitten little holes in all of the other swimmies throughout the summer.

Packer wants to jump in without any floaties - he's learning!

The best part was that LaNell came with us! That’s why we actually have pictures at the pool. Everyone needs a LaNell in their lives!! … she held one or two of the kids, taught swimming lessons and then took each of the kids on the BIG slide 5-7 times!! The kids had a blast.

Benji and Packer learning the 'Superman'

3 months ago Packer wouldn't put his face in - NOW he won't keep it out!

Underwater Shot - Benj really wants to learn to swim like his big cousins

LaNell mentioned going on the big slide and they all wanted to try it. We have never gone because this one mom can’t take 3 of them down at a time and can’t trust them to sit and wait… anyway, Packer went first and loved it. Benji went and then Cali had to have a turn 🙂 She spent a good hour taking each of the kids on the slide!!

Cali at the top of the slide! She went at least 3 times.

I need someone to take me on the slide... thanks LaNell!! I owe you.

Chillin at the beach front while Lan and Benji were on the slide.

Packer got cold and was ready to be done. Benji was the Flyer for a little 3 flies up with his cousin PJ and Cali just stayed in the water with LaNell, she did not want to be done.

    Daring little swimmer!

Look at her pushing her limits!!

Thanks again LaNell. Probably our last pool day for this year but it was a fun one.

    2 More Months

I just found an old blog post from last pregnancy:

    2 months to go!

“I love the last 2 months of pregnancy… not because my back aches and I don’t sleep well and maternity clothes start to not fit and I’m really tired and…. I love it because something kicks in that makes me think how much I love my other children and I need to cherish this time with them before we add another little one to the mix….”

I am feeling that same way. Wanting more time to just play with the kids and soak it all in – enjoying them in the stages that they are in and having everything ‘pretty much’ under control. I love taking Cali on our nightly walks because I know she loves it, books and puzzles with Packer and Bubble Bobble with Benji… life will change shortly and sleepless nights will try my patience and it will be harder to be the mom I want to be, but for now – All is well and we are enjoying this phase of life.
