This is King Henry Apartments. Ben and I both lived in these apartments back in 2000 when we met. Ben lived in the upper right – 82. I had purchased a pink BMX bike at the DI and would ride it around the complex. This tree had a branch that came out by the sidewalk so I would ride by and then stand on the bar of the bike and jump up and grab the tree branch. Then I swing from the tree and the bike ghost rides off into the grass. Sweet Trick, right? Anyway, One of the days I was out riding and I did the trick but my hands slipped off the branch and I came right down on top of the bike and got the handlebars in my back. Ben happened to be home and saw it and came rushing out to see if I was ok. I think I popped right up and pretended it didn’t hurt :0 (that was probably when we fell in love)
This is my Roomie, Brooke McCoy. When I went to school at BYU I was lucky enough to live in the same apartment as her. She is the greatest, nicest, most fun person… and she was dropping her oldest child off at BYU so I drove down to say Hi. It made my entire week to see her for an hour and hang with Jason and Luke. I hope to be as wise and as tall as Brooke someday 😉
This was our apartment that we lived in at King Henry – – so many memories. I love all of those roommates!
I went on a one day girls trip to Bear Lake! It was the Saturday before school started. Ben stayed home with the kids and got the yard work done and sprinklers fixed and helped the kids deliver some of their business flyers. And of course they went out to eat!
I left at 6am and picked up Abbie. We drove the 3 hours to meet up with some of the ladies and head to the Lake! The lake was packed and it took forever to get in and get settled but we had some great convo’s and I may have got my little Mazda stuck in the beach sand for a minute!
We relaxed at the beach all day and ate and paddle boarded and floated the day away. Then we headed back and went out to dinner. We finished dinner and got out of there around 9pm to head home. Everyone else was staying over night. We had a fun drive back home. I enjoyed spending time with everyone that was there and I really had a blast being stuck with Abbie in the car. It was a great day.
I’ve been waiting a long time to go to a Garth Brooks concert! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!! I was not on the ball and ready to order tickets when they went for sale but as the summer came and I realized I really wanted to be there I started looking for tickets but they were out and people selling were asking for a lot… so… When Cami told me she had an extra ticket and maybe 2 – I was very excited. She let me have them for face value – right around $100 each. Ben and I had such a good time singing along to EVERY song. I would go to another GARTH concert any day. It was fun to be out in SLC and ride the front runner/ bus and figure out concerts and covid and I got to see Abbie there.
All expenses paid vacation to Cancun with Salesrabbit sales team!!!
We left Thursday morning – the kids last day of school – May 27 – It was so exciting to go on a trip just the two of us! (Now it is Jul 14th when I am writing this so my memories are already fading! I’ll try to do this trip report justice!)
We Made It! To the HOT Hot Mexico!
LOOK AT THIS BEDROOM VIEW! I couldn’t get over it the whole trip – it was amazing to be living at the pool at the beach in the always 80 degrees. Here are some pics of us enjoying the all inclusive resort!
On Friday we took a boat to Isla Mulheres with some work peops and explored the island for the day. It was about 65$ per person to charter the little boat. And we were so excited about the tacos that we ate there for lunch – they were THE BEST. The snorkeling was so so. The beach was an amazingly clear blue and white. And it was lovely to be out on the water.
That night we had a fancy dinner on the beach! Toes in the sand. I had a delicious vegetable curry with chips – most had sea food.
Saturday Sunrise! and our morning crepes…
On Saturday we went on a tour with all of our work group. It was all day long – we went to 2 different ruins: TULUM and then COBA and ended the day at the Cenote!!!
TULUM:
After lunch we got to ride bikes into Coba and see more and different ruins:
And then we got to go swim in one of the CENOTES in COBA! It was down a bunch stairs – maybe 50 and then you swim in the beautiful underground river! IT WAS SO HOT and the water was so refreshing!
It was a long drive home. The small towns reminded me of my time in Brasil. I wonder how it would be to live there for a few years. It looks like such a simple life.
Ben got up early for another beautiful sunrise!
I got up for the crepes and lounging by the pool!
We took a taxi in to town to shop and look for souvenirs and we went down to the beach and heard all of the work people getting giddy about something… they were finding beautiful big sea shells about 5 feet off the shoreline! So we jumped in for an hour or 2 and found a couple of shells to bring home! We had dinner with work people at one of the resort restaurants and went to explore the nightlife:
And then it was May 31 and time for us to pack up and fly home. It was a relaxing and fun trip. So good to spend time with Ben and a good break from being mom. It was nice to get to know some of the work people and nice to explore CanCun!
goodbye to our breakfast view
and lounging around
and reading with a pool and a view
back to masks and airports
We got home Late Monday night. The kids were home waiting for us!!! Rose and Ray, Millie and Tiago had stayed at Joel and Megan’s. Benji and Packer stayed at Falabellas. And Cali stayed half at Falabella’s and then the next half at Joel’s. They all were happy to see us but did just fine getting spoiled from aunts and uncles while we were gone.
Ben and I were out of town for the last soccer games this season. But we enjoyed a few week night games of Benji’s and we were able to get team pics the weekend before and the kids were able to go to their games with friends and family 🙂
Last Soccer Practices:
Benji had fun on his U19 team. I had fun coaching Millie’s team. And Ben rocked it with Rose, Ray and Tiago! So many SOCCER games!
We wanted to celebrate Shannon before her wedding this summer and it turned into a Girls Weekend in Phoenix!
Thursday morning Megan and Kit and Kelsey and I took the 6am flight to Phoenix! We rented the 15 passenger van and then went out to breakfast. We took Kelsey to her old roommates house to hang out for the day and then Megan and I checked into to the house we rented. I got to play with baby Kit and take a nap. We went to lunch and had some good girl talk and then went grocery shopping. That evening we started picking up all the SISTERS! We grabbed Shaelyn and then Liz – (this is where we had Kelseys Canes Chicken Sauce Story!) and then we went back and got Sam and Jana and Shannon and Tommi. Mom and Tracie and Reese got in from the other airport around 11:30pm as well. Christy got there the next morning and Mal had to cancel because of a funeral at the last minute.
On Friday we chilled in the morning and then went out to lunch at a pizzeria. We went shopping at the Nordstrom Rack Last Chance store and then we came home and chilled and gamed and swam and then we went out for a late dinner at a burger and shake place called The Stand. After dinner we found some pickleball courts and played from 9-10pm!
On Saturday a few of us got up and tried to find some pickleball courts that weren’t crowded: Me, Liz, Christy, Tracie and Kel. Then we just wanted to relax at the pool and house all day and enjoy the 80 degree weather – It was great. We ended up playing in the pool for hours doing homemade games of volleyball and basketball. So fun to be a kid again. Some sisters brought me Taco Bell and a Swig and Cookie and we had popsicles and we played games!
That night was our bacheloretty part – We went to the Medieval Times Dinner and Show! We had fun watching and talking and wondering what they were going to bring out next. After the show we played some “everything but beer Pong” and had a fun late night!
On Sunday morning we were out of there at 4am again! for the 6:00 flight home! Christy took the rental van back for me 🙂 and then caught her flight. Mom and Tracie had an afternoon flight so they closed down the house for us and returned their car and that was that – IT was a fun little weekend with lots of Girls that I love and hopefully Shannon and Tommi felt some of our love.
Sunny Phoenix to cold Salt Lake and Mom and Trae doing zoom church at the park with all the leftover food! 🙂
