Can you believe Christmas traditions are under way?? We made it to Cabela’s and Santa was there and the kids tried not to ask for more than 10 things each! I did give them a lecture that Santa would think they were rude if they asked for too many things 🙂

    Thanksgiving 2013

Thanksgiving was very relaxing this year. I got to sleep in. I made a couple of chocolate pies the day before. My sister Shannon came and spent the day and rest of the week with us! Ben made pies and beans and jello. We had lots of food and even more pie. We spent most of the day at Ben’s parents. Michelle’s and Emily’s and Pete’s families were all there. Grandma and Grandpa Becker and Bill all came. The kids all played with their cousins which is awesome how well they entertain each other. We visited, played a few games, ran over to the 6pm walmart sale, and enjoyed being with family.

The weather was warm enough to eat outside! We were thankful for that and THANKFUL for this life that we are living. It was nice to slow down and count our blessings. We have been given so much. I hope we never take this good life for granted and try and always remain grateful and thankful for the MANY comforts that we have.

At midnight Shannon and I decided to go out shopping! It was great fun. The stores were pretty empty because of all of the early sales but we just had fun being out and searching for Christmas gifts. This Thanksgiving break was one of the first times I was able to hang out with just Shannon. She has so many friends and she is 10 years younger than I am and we usually have other siblings in the mix but it was just her and I and I really enjoyed our time together. We shopped, talked, and played games (2 man 7 Wonders is fun!). She played with my kids, we took them to the park, and she sung with them in the bathroom while getting ready for the day. We had a sleepover in the family room and ate lots of junk. We loved having Shannon for Thanksgiving.

I tried to take a picture of Millie with everyone that came to the blessing: I did good – but I still failed. I know I am missing Lilly and Sam, Christian and Mikah and Luca. Aunt Di left before I got the camera out. I got lazy and took a few kid group shots but all in all the day was well documented…

Halloween is a BUSY day. We got the boys off to school and then I kicked it into high gear to get myself and the other 4 ready to go to the school to see all of the kids in their costumes. We got Cali off to preschool. MADE Raymond take a nap. Babysat Ellie and Anna. Right after school we hurried to Mozy for trick or treating with Dad. We came home from that and went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Then to see Grandma and Grandpa Becker. We had a few minutes at home to drop off candy and use the restroom and then Ben and the kids left to trick or treat and LaNell and Millie and I stayed home with the dogs and the candy bowl. We didn’t have as many trick or treaters at the new house. Then we left a little after 8pm to meet up with cousins at Pete and Amanda’s. We got the kids to bed at 10pm and crashed!!

    A BUSY WEEK

    A BUSY WEEK

We had a non-stop week. We had lots of fun things on the calendar and we did them all. Last Friday Night we had cousins night at our house. This is when the “local” cousins all come over for 4 hours so the parents can go out. The cousins have tons of fun hanging out and now that the kids are getting older Ben and I were able to sit back and watch the football game while all of the kids played.

The next day was the last day of fall soccer for Ben and the boys!! Packer got another goal and they stayed undefeated. Benji’s team got their first loss. We now have our Saturdays back and our Weds and Thursday evenings! That night we had our Annual showing of Charlie Brown, the great pumkin. We had lots of new neighbors come as well as family and some friends from our old ward. The hot chocolate was great, We had a few raffle prizes, the kids all had friends and cousins to be giddy with. The weather was good and it ended up being ok showing the movie in the driveway instead of on our too new to walk on sod.

Monday was another party day. It was my brother Brady’s birthday so we had him and Sean and Joel and Megan over for dinner and pumpkin carving. Megan brought most of the dinner and it was soo good – we appreciate Joel bringing her into the family 🙂 After dinner was pumpkin time. Our kids had each picked the picture that they wanted to do on their pumpkin – usually Ben and I are up until midnight getting them all carved but this year we had lots of great helpers. Everyone paired up and helped our kids carve and it was a ton of fun. Joel and Megan helped Ray do a fun face. Ben helped Rose carve a Plants vs. Zombies Sun  Flower. Brady and Cali did Hello Kitty. Packer and Casey did a Zombie. Benji and Sean did a minion. Shealyn did a halloween cat. I was on picture taking, baby tending, clean up…

Tuesday night we had a ward party at the church. Each family brings Candy and a game and the kids go crazy. We set up our soccer goal and hung the “little Man” and let the kids score a goal on it for a piece of candy. Ben and Raymond manned the station while I helped the kids make the rounds. The Young Men’s group made a spook alley but our kids were all to scared to try it. Other families did golf, bball, bean bags, rings, bouncy balls into a bucket, coloring, cotton candy, musical chairs… It was a fun night for the family and we got to interact with people from our new ward.

Wednesday night we went to check out the Halloween Train in Lindon. It is a small train at someone’s house and over the years it has gotten bigger and bigger. They took us on a train ride through lots of spooky alleys. It was fun and different. We went right when it opened so that the kids wouldn’t be scared. We still had lots of wide EYES but no tears.

And we made it to Halloween!!! SO EXCITING. We went to the boys school to see all of the costumes in the morning and then Cali got to get dressed up for her school. I’m thinking that day deserves it’s own post so this one is done! I like BUSY Weeks.

    CORNBELLYS

We’ve been going to Cornbellys at Thanksgiving Point every Fall for as long as my memory goes back – – (that’s at least a few years 🙂 ) The kids love this place. This year it wasn’t tooo cold but it was threatening to rain so we debated about going and finally just went. As soon as we bought our tickets and put our wristbands on – IT STARTED RAINING! BOO. Luckily it only lasted 15 minuted but it was enough to soak all of the toys/attractions and close down the jumping pillow and Cow Train Ride. BUT, the kids didn’t care at all. We played and played and got a little wet and kept playing. Benji, Packer and Cali followed cousins around with smiles on their faces. Raymond was on the go the whole time. Rose didn’t whine at all! and Millie slept soundly in her warm car seat for the 3 hours! It was a SUCCESS:

Saturday we had soccer games at 11. Packer and Cali were at the same time again. Then we went to Benji’s game at 3:00 – actually I didn’t want to wrestle the kids during nap time so I stayed home. We are SLOWLY decorating the new house BUT really we lived in the last house for 10 years and NEVER really decorated. With that in mind, Ben has taken it upon himself to be the decorator of the house. I like that. I just could never make it a priority. I will still give input but I’m glad that he is getting it done. And that night we had Pete and his kids over. We ate pizza and watched Wisconsin football.

It was my mother in laws birthday. They got to spend it in Wisconsin so we didn’t get to see her. She IS an AMAZING Mother in Law. I am very blessed to have her in my life. She is the perfect balance. She is always willing to help. She loves her kids, and me and my kids.  She loves God. We love her and are happy that she got to spend her birthday in one of her favorite places! The 28th is Grandma’s birthday. 29th is mine, 30th is my Sister-in-law Liz. Oct. 1 is Rose and my nephew Braden. Oct. 2 is Gentry. It is BIRTHDAY TIME.

Friday afternoon uncle Matt came by and gave all of the kids a ride in the ‘toy’ car. He had rented it for the day and the kids thought it was awesome.

    IMG_20130920_155521 IMG_20130920_155526

Friday evening was the School Fun Run. Our kids love this even though they don’t love to run. Ben ran with the kids this year and Millie and I met them at the end. We chilled with Matt and Jamie’s family afterwards and ate pizza. Benji says “it was the best running thing ever!” Packer says, “it was fun because I beat all of my whole family again and I got a candy medal!”

    IMG_20130920_173508 IMG_20130920_182527

Then we came home and examined our newly flattened yard and tried to picture some finished landscaping. LaNell and Michelle were over and the 30 minutes in the back yard resulted in baths for all kids and dogs.

On Thursday the 19th they started work in our backyard! We extended our patio around the back of the house and a path along the east side. We are so excited to get a yard. It looks like it is going to be right in time for winter BUT… we are so excited to cover up this dirt and have a place for the kids and dog to run around again. We also received a visit from Pete and Amanda’s family. Sam was so excited to hold little Millie – it was really cute!
