    progress on the house

we are a month away from moving! its still a bit of a dream. I’ve never moved before – 9 years ago when it was just Ben and I and we fit everything in the smallest uhaul. now there are 7 of us, so much stuff… My good friend Erica told me a year ago that we would never move because we are to lazy – – I’m kinda wishin she was right – this is a lot of work. i am tempted to stay. πŸ™‚ And we are the last people that wanted to build a house and pick out door knobs and light fixtures and colors and … but here we are and we did it and luckily Cadence made it a fairly simple process. We are happy with how everything is looking and coming together. We are so excited to live next door to family. I am so excited for more closets and storage and garage space. We are anxious to have a bigger dining room and kitchen. And an unfinished basement – oh the possibilities! Here’s to another crazy. exciting. BUSY month as we prep for moving…

Time continues to fly. I wish it would slow down.

    image

We finally had some nice weather and went to the park a few times and just LOVED being outside. It has been the longest winter that I have lived through.

    image

We went to a surprise party for my brother in law. Happy 30th Schyleur!

    image

A leprechaun stopped to use our toilet!

    image

Rose went overboard on the makeup and then got mad and sad when she realized she messed up.

    image

I had horrible cards for both games of Rook. No chance of calling or being the partner.

    image

We inherited some wave runners! Not sure if they work or not but they have been on my dream list for forever.

    image

And last night my sister Kelsey opened her mission call at our house. We had all of the family on google hangout and everyone that could make it came and it was super fun. She is gong to Taiwan, Taipei on August 7th! We’re excited for her and proud of her decision to go and serve.

    we are here…

I feel like I should blog because it has been two weeks but I don’t have much to say so….

Last week we babysat Diego, Lalo, Luca and Mia – Monday through Friday. They were really good. My kids just played and played the whole week. I did a few extra dishes and the toys started to take over the house but we had a good week.

Cali and Mia ready for school.

On Saturday we got to go to a baptism and visit with Nate and Becky and Heidi and Norb. Family time is great and baptisms are GREAT. Benji is getting ready to get baptized this year! It’s exciting to watch him grow up.Raymond came down with a nasty cold on Saturday. I keep thinking he is over it but then he gets whiny and clingy and needs some extra attention. Today he has a runny nose.

Sunday we had my family over to watch the super bowl and celebrate Ryan’s 37th birthday. We ate a ton of food, yelled at the tv and the poor officiating, and then got a few games in. Monday the kids got out of school early and got to go to Kangaroo Zoo! Tuesday we met with Cadence homes and our builder and signed some initial papers on our new house. Wednesday we were out of food and toilet paper so at 5:00 I took all of the kids to walmart! We shopped, picked Valentines and then stayed to eat at Subway.

Yesterday we got to meet with Benji and Packer’s teachers. Both of our kids are doing well in school. They follow directions and do their work and don’t distract the other kids. We are proud of their good behavior.

Packer doing one of his Random projects (Cali seems to be in all pictures lately)

That’s our story. We are alive. Doing the day to day. Trying to stay healthy. Getting antsy for Spring… I need to start using my camera more. Ben is off to a snow camp out in a few hours and it just started snowing so that should be an adventure. My parents leave for their cruise today! Tracie and Cedar come to visit on Monday. And Erica just had her baby this morning!!

I don’t have a picture of cute baby Maren so here is one of my girls – they are becoming great friends and they are both surprisingly good at playing with and entertaining their little brother.

I spent 2 hours cleaning our toy room this morning and it is not clean so I’ll be down there if you need me.

    CHRISTMAS DAY

I love Christmas Day! It is such a different day than ANY other day of the year. There is so much joy and excitement and love. Like most years Ben and I were awake before any of the kids but we waited in bed patiently until the kids finally got up at 7:30 πŸ™‚ Benji went downstairs to check things out and then came in to tell us that Santa DID COME and that Dad was NOT on the naughty list! He had checked his stocking and found presents under the tree with Ben’s name on them! whew… Benji was very relieved – He is our tender hearted Child, always concerned for others. Yes, he DID note the presents for himself as well.

We spent the morning opening gifts one at a time. Rose had to open and play with each gift as it was unwrapped. Benji had a hard time waiting for his turn. Cali and Packer were both kind of in shock mode. Santa brought each of the kids what they had asked for!! Rose wanted a Barbie, check. Cali wanted her own camera, she got the kids Vtech and has mastered it. Packer wanted a Furby, (yes, the overpriced robot stuffed animal), but if you were there to see the joy on his face when he really got one – it was priceless. And Benji did not get his own tablet but the family got an Xbox and he got Skylander Giants to play on the Xbox!

We had a busy morning and had to postpone our Christmas Day Cinnamon Rolls a day and we barely made it on time to Christmas Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa and the Falabella’s. We enjoyed the afternoon with family and then came home and tried to decide if we should drive to California in the snowy conditions. We decided to wait and hope for better roads. I did not like waiting but I did like getting the house cleaned up from the Christmas chaos and the extra time to pack. We had a Great Day and a Great Christmas Season. WE ARE VERY BLESSED.

This is possibly my favorite picture of the day: priceless…

    Leading Up to Christmas…

Where has my blogging time gone?? I am falling behind. I don’t want to fall behind because I have the world’s worst memory and I want to remember all of this…

We had a fun December. It was busy and fun and went way to fast. This will be my Pre- Christmas post. Then I will need to do Christmas and our California trip to be caught up. And my goal in the mean time will be to do nothing blog worthy so that I will be up to date πŸ™‚

Packer drew pictures on a daily basis and made them into presents for all of us.

Cali made a super cute calendar at Preschool! She was so Proud.

Christmas Specials on TV with Dad – we wished we could have had more of these low key nights.

Each year we go to see Santa at Cabela’s with all of the cousins and each year we take a picture of all of us lined up ready to go!

    The FISH at Cabela’s!

Packer was pretty upset that he couldn’t replicate the I Spy Book πŸ™

These two are just starting to play together – so cute.

Benji and Packer sang for us at the school.

    Big Kids Ginger Bread House!

    Little Kids Ginger Bread House.

We had a special Christmas evening with Grandma and Grandpa Nettesheim. It’s nice to have that one on one time with them.

Our Annual McDonalds on Christmas Eve!

Eating TOO much food on Christmas Eve!

    Tracking Santa!

    Our Nativity

    Decorating Cookies for Santa!

    Temple Square

We went to Temple Square with all of the kids! Grandma and Grandpa came and both of Ben’s sisters with their families. It was cold and crowded but it was beautiful. I really wanted to take the kids since we live so close and have never been.

We met up at the singing/dancing fountain at City Creek. The water and fire routine to Christmas music was entertaining.

    image

    image

The girls kept calling the Temple a princess castle. They were pretty amazed at how big and beautiful it is.

    image

There were also a number of different style nativities that we enjoyed looking at. Rose was convinced that a certain style was Dora! She was fun. Somehow the boys escaped my camera. I’ll add some pics from Ben’s phone when I get a chance.

    image

And then the two youngest decided that they were done so we headed home. I loved being at the temple and enjoyed being out and about with so many others that were trying to capture the true reason for the season.

3 Christmas Parties and 5 busy days! and now 3 more days since I started this post!!

I felt like I was running all week last week. We had things on the calendar every day which isn’t our style BUT we had fun and we survived, again.

We started out the week with a Robertson Christmas Party at Ryan’s house. We basically had Thanksgiving number 2 with my 4 brothers that live out here and my mom’s parents. The food was delicious. The Pies were too. And we had a little Christmas program including jokes by the girls, a poem by Joel, a haiku by Ben, songs by the kids and the Flea, the Fly and the Flew by Arden. I love my family. I am happy to live near my grandparents and be able to build our friendship.

    Megan meeting the GP’s

    Arden, Jana, Elma

Monday wasn’t tooo busy I just had to get the house back together and get the rest of the week organized on paper and in my head. For family night we got together with a few families in the ward and watched a Christmas movie.

This pic just makes me smile. His teeth are so BIG. I am DONE nursing, 100%. It’s sad but good. In the wee hours of the morning he wanted to nurse so bad but it has been 3 days and I debated if I dare try… finally Ben went and made him a bottle and he was content.

Tuesday we had cub scouts right after school and then I hurried and threw dinner on the table and left for the Temple! Ben fed the kids and then the Young Women had volunteered to babysit while Ben was at the Scout Court of Honor. Everything tried to convince me to just stay home but I did not stay home and I loved being in the temple.

    advent calendars every morning!!!!!!!

every day is busy with 5 little kids

Wednesday I got to go shopping in the morning and then we picked the kids up from school and went to the church for a class party for my 7 year old primary class. All 7 of the kids were able to come and we played hard and ate donuts. The kids worked really hard at being reverent so this was a reward to them. We again RAN home from the church, I threw some food in the oven, changed clothes and gave Joel a high five on my way out the door. Ben and I had a fun evening for his work party. We ate dinner and then went upstairs to the “casino”. We got 1000 in chips and at the end of the night you got to turn your chips into raffle tickets. I managed to lose 4,000 while Ben made over 6,000. I am not LUCKY. But we enjoyed socializing with Ben’s coworkers and spending the evening out.

    work party

On Thursday we woke up early to see if Santa had come to check on us! He did check on us! And most of us got our stockings filled with candy but Someone got a bag of coal and Santa left a note and a book saying that someone had been talking about trapping him and eating his cookies so he left the Elf on the Shelf to keep an eye on that person and report back to Santa if we are being good or bad. So.. Ben has stopped teasing Santa and the kids love finding Chewy the Elf each morning. We spent the rest of the day playing with Cali and having birthday fun.

    new watches!

Rose has been living in her Cinderella outfit.

On Friday we had the 6 youngest Netty cousins over for about 4 hours and celebrated Cali’s birth πŸ™‚ We played Cheep Cheep and Doggy Doggy Wears your Bone. We opened presents and played with the new toys. We had lunch and rainbow cake. Then we sent the older boys off to school and turned on a show to wind down. That afternoon Ben got off work early and we took the kids to the sophomore basketball game to watch our friend Alex play. And then it was date night! We tried a restaurant in SLC that we had heard good things about. It was the Copper Onion. We went with the burger and it truly was tasty. We walked through city creek and enjoyed being out of our Utah County bubble for a few hours. I fell asleep on the drive home but I had a midnight soccer game so I kind of needed the nap.

    Cali’s Birthday Lunch with cousins!

The “double” rainbow cake! I rainbowed the inside of it and the kids loved it πŸ™‚

The food was so good that the Pickles were even yummy!

Saturday morning we headed to the church for our ward Christmas Breakfast! and then we spent the rest of the day getting things done around the house and relaxing a little.

Telling Santa what they want: A Doll House, Skylander Giants, Furby, and Barbie!

If Ray gets to be in his diaper then Rose wants to be in hers… aren’t they cute?

Benji officially hits his head in the toy room!

Sunday we enjoyed a good day at church and then went to Joel’s Wassail Party in Provo. We brought Netty’s Hot Bev and socialized and ate cookies and tolerated a cranky 2 year old daughter.

And now Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have come and gone since I started this post… Time flies. Christmas time flies even faster. We are happy and healthy and we love this time of year that we get to focus more on our Savior and giving and serving and being with family. One week until Christmas vacation!

    Thanksgiving 2012

We got to go to Ben’s parents house for Thanksgiving this year! Now that they live close I was able to sleep in a little, get kids ready and the house cleaned while Ben made casserole and 6 pies! We headed over a little before 1:00 and stayed until 8pm. I didn’t take any pictures of the main event but I got Ray cleaning up someone’s abandoned dinner roll and a few pictures of the gaming. Ben got in a game of hearts but mostly chilled with family and tried to keep our five under control. The football games were lack luster this year so I played a little speed basketball with the niece and nephews and I also got in on the Small World and Rummikub Games. Β Benji played a new tablet game with the older cousins. Packer played a lot with Mikah who he doesn’t get to see as much as the others. Cali followed all of the other girls around. Rose found the sand box and tried to not fight with Christian. And Ray did really well just cruising around the house and survived on a little cat nap in his dad’s arms. We did a lot more than that in 7 hours but that is what I remember. I just love when family is all in one house playing and entertaining and enjoying each others company. It was very low key and very enjoyable. I had so much pie this year that I lost count. We finished out our “At Home Vacation” by setting up Christmas on Friday. We stayed up late watching Christmas movies and let the kids sleep under the tree. On Saturday I went shopping and we got some chores done and Ben and I went on a short date. Sunday was relaxing. We had Joel and his lady friend(I think that’s what they say now so that they don’t have to declare official girlfriend status) over for dinner. They entertained the kids for hours and we suffered through Green Bay losing and now here we are back to real life. I feel like my to do list is always a mile long but here we go….

    November News Part 2

Saturday November 10th ended up being a pretty busy day:

Packer slept ALL day! He threw up twice and was not feeling good.

Benji and his little snowman named Chilly.

Rose looking a little sick herself… and she has been a little sick all week. A runny nose, some fever, and mostly whiny and wanting mommy to hold her all day. Today I found a little molar coming in.

It was freezing cold and the game didn’t start until 8:15 BUT Benji and I went to the BYU v Idaho football game and we got Ryan and Marlee to go with us!

SUNDAY the 11th. We got to go to a special stake conference because Elder Bednar came!! He is so down to earth and in touch. I loved his sense of humor. He gave great counsel and guidance and encouraged me to be a little better. I loved it. And I loved being home at noon and relaxing with my family:

The kids learning to play battleship! they loved it.

    Sean supporting MOVEMBER

Benji decided to pull out his 2nd tooth!!

Monday the 12th: we watched the Falabella kids for most of the day.

the girls played really well!! that is a big deal these days because it doesn’t always happen.

the girls are all about the headband

Tuesday November 13: Raymond is 9 months old!! And started climbing stairs! He is all over the house and into everything.

Wednesday November 14:Β I realized how crazy my life has been lately. I am taking care of kids 24/7. I can barely get anything done outside of making sure that the kids are eating, learning, sleeping and not living in filth. Everyone wants mom and everyone wants ‘hold me’ and ‘get me…’ and Raymond’s mobility has definitely added to the craziness.

I love when Ben comes home in the evenings!

November 15th: Thursday was another take care of kids and not get much done kind of day.

how cute is this! Love watching them interact.

Friday the 16th: I cooked and cleaned and packed our bags for a weekend at a Park City Cabin with the Nettesheim Family!!

Rose learned how to use my camera phone while I packed.

We left for Park City right after Ben got home from work! We spent the evening with all of the Utah Netty Family. We ate and talked and ate and had a planning meeting and ate and played a few games. Everyone stayed up way to late but it was a blast.

most of us hanging out in the main room of the cabin

Saturday the 17th: We spent the day in our pajamas at the cabin with lots of family. The kids hot tubbed and played in the snow. I went to the outlets and we all played and ate the day away.

Sunday November 18th: We said goodbye to the cabin. Got home in time to go to church. Hosted my family for pizza dinner and then crashed.

    Goodbye Cabin

we inherited 100 hotwheels over the weekend!

Monday November 19th: I got nothing done BUT we played cars and went to the park and we are all excited that it is Thanksgiving week. Yeah!

    Rosie is still whiny lately

Benji had a Manners Lunch at school today. He was nervous and excited.
