    Walnut Creek, CA

We made our first trip to Walnut Creek CA. We were there for just over 24 hours and never left the Hancock’s home but that still counts. It was great to see their new life and to just let the kids play – these 6 kids just go and go and they don’t need entertainment or discipline. It isร‚ย a parenting dream. We had yummy dinner and a few good games and we got to try out the “guest house”.ร‚ย  Oh yes, we did leave, we went to the park for an hour or so…

    off to a rough start

    can you hear me crying?

Cali was playing very nicely this morning until she fell down with the bat mobile and gave herself a bloody lip ๐Ÿ™ Then she started following me around the house and I ended up smashing her fingers in the door and then caught her in the eye with the zipper on Benji’s coat! that was all within 5 minutes as we were trying to get out the door to take Benji to school. The picture is not from any of these accidents though… if you zoom out you’ll see that Packer has the Thomas train and she wants it. Life is hard.

    i want Thomas

Ben came home from his Wisconsin trip with Green Bay Packers gifts for all…

Benji had a jersey but it was #4 Favre and he figured out that #4 is not in the team anymore so he needed a new number.

Cali is our little sports fan and was over due fir a girlie jersey.

Packer already has a jersey so he got snuggly jammies.

    "GO PACKERS" a fan already!

Ben had a blast with his siblings and parents. If Emily could have come it would have been the whole family!

    Single Mom

    5 year old

    3 year old

    Almost 2 year old

    Baby

Today I am so glad to not be a single mom. Ben is out gallivanting around in Wisconsin ( I can only say that because its usually me that does the gallivanting- He and some of his siblings were able to fly out and surprise Rick for his 40th!)ร‚ย This weekend without him has given me a newfound respect for women that have to raise kids on their own or that have husbands that work out of town a lot. Some situations seem to require 2 adults… So you are sitting in church. Baby is not content so she is in your arms. almost 2 year old is trying to share your lap with baby, 3 year old is trying to kiss 5 year old who doesn’t want to be kissed. 5 year old is laying on bench to get away from kissy 3 year old who is now loudly whining because 5 year old won’t let him kiss him….. MOm doesn’t have a free hand to reprimand and when she tries 3 year old bursts into tears explaining that he just wants to give his brother a kiss!!! ahhhh, 3 minutes later 5 year old needs to go to the bathroom so I send him out, and almost 2 year old follows him so next thing ya know mom is grabbing everything and everyone and heading for refuge. The main portion of sacrament meeting was spent in the mothers lounge!… ร‚ย I’m glad every Sunday isn’t like that one.

So Sunday was a day of survival ร‚ย and we survived. Saturday I took the kids to Trafalga Lehi because we are now proud owners of the pass of all passes… and today is going smoothly so far ร‚ย – Cali has only thrown 2 huge fits (thats good for her) and now Diego and Lalo are here to play so my boys are happy.

I love that when Packer found the Nutcracker he went and got the can of peanuts and proceeded to "crack" the already shelled and halved nuts.

I love this little dress on my baby girl

caught in th act... she is just starting to roll on the ground during her fits.

This guy is just full of faces lately - its interesting watching your baby become a real kid.

    We HAD friends Again!

that's A LOT of little kids

And we all loved having our friends back… The Hancock’s came for the weekend and we PLAYED. I love that when we get together we have a 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 year old and now 2 newborns!!

    chill time

I love that Pacen and Benji match right down to their shirts coming up to show their tummies and Cali is trying so hard to be like them. And true to life Packer and Camry are in sync.

Claira, not crying like in pic #1

Probably the most calm 2 year old around – this girl knows how to entertain herself and she talks like she’s 3.

Gentry and Rose - 1st Pic Together

Rose meets Gentry for the first time – I had to put this pic cause my baby is smiling.

    FRIENDS

1 month old babies are hard to photo shoot – they just don’t get that we want them to stay exactly how we placed them and it would be nice if they’d smile ๐Ÿ™‚ – BUt We Tried Anyway…

    sweet little girls

Rose is one day older, a hat size smaller, ร‚ a pound lighter, an inch shorter, and a few shades whiter!

    you talking to us

    hugs

This was just the beginning of a busy month – I like busy months. We said good bye to the Hancock’s late Saturday night :(, Rose and I made our first appearance at church and LOVED it, and we got to spend the evening with our local Netteshiem family which now includes Emily and her family!! We are excited to have them close by again. Oh ya, did I mention that BYU won, Utah lost, and the Packers won so it was a GREAT football weekend. bye

    4 days of Halloween

    THURSDAY 10/28 – CornBellys

We went to Corn Bellys again this year! The kids loved it. It was COLD but they didn’t care at all. Rose slept through it all and I was the only one requesting hot chocolate by the end of the night. We went with some of the cousins and had a great NIght.

    Benji and his Balloon Penguin!!!

    Packer at the Snake maze

Cali and MIa in the Hay

    Luca, Benji, Diego, Lalo, Packer

the younger half of our crew

    On the bouncy train ride

just say the word haunted and Benji will jump

FRIDAY 10/29 – Costume Parade at School, Great Pumpkin MOvie Night

    POWER UP - Red Ranger

We went to our first school event. It was not that cool. I had the 3 youngins and no stroller and they were running late and Cali was in charge cause I didn’t have her strapped in to anything and… WHEN WE SAW BENJI AND HIS FACE LIT UP it was ALL WORTH IT !!

    There's our Kindergartener

That night was our Great Pumpkin Movie!! We had a great time with neighbors and friends. Glad that everyone came and missed those that didn’t make it. This was our 6th year doing this Halloween Get together!

SATURDAY 10/30 – Trick or Treat

    Ready to Trick or Treat

    Nacho, Witch, Red Ranger, Wolverine

It was another rainy trick or treating night but… the kids went and loved it. I am happy to report that LaNell was able to get Cali into her witch costume so we did not have a Spiderman this year – I was 99% sure we would have 3 little supers but I am glad that we had one girly girl out there with Dad and brothers. I stayed home and passed out candy with Rose and Lan and we finished the night with the cousins.

we wore orange and called it good

We had our last adult soccer game on Saturday so my siblings came over before trick or treating. We ate Pizza and celebrated Bradys 23rd! My brothers tried to get Cali to ride the broom… and we definitely need one more picture of Nasty Nacho…

    SUNDAY 10/31 – Halloween Day

    Carving Time

By Halloween Day we had done it all and just relaxed. We carved our Pumpkins on Tuesday night and actually started early so we weren’t up until midnight like last year. Packer wanted a scary face. Benji chose Iron Man. Cali and I did word ones and Ben did the one elaborate one this year. We had a fun Halloween weekend and now we are ready for the Holiday Season ( Yes, Ben turned on his Christmas music November 1st)

Lots of Pictures from the last month

ATTENTION: posting all of the things that I would have posted earlier if I wasn’t snuggling with my new little baby all day (and if my netbook wasn’t taken by the Geek Squad).

    September:

    Social Sucker

Cali never liked a Pacifier much BUT if any of her friends have one then she needs one too. And when new baby has one then she thinks she needs one – it’s pretty funny to watch her try to talk and play with it in her mouth – luckily it doesn’t last long.

    My Blanky!

This blanket was given to baby Rose before she was born but Cali was very possessive of it and wouldn’t let anyone touch it.

    My 31st Birthday

I spent my birthday afternoon in the hospital and was too tired to have birthday cake and party afterwards so… we ate birthday cookies thanks to my great Visiting Teachers and I went to bed early.

    October:

    TIME OUT

Here is Cali in her timeout spot! She almost enjoys going there because she gets attention. I am trying to give her positive attention so that she doesn’t need this kind of attention. She is pretty cute in timeout though…

keep your nose on the wall

and my husband would not let a birthday go without birthday cake so we did eat it a few days late. BUT I did get out of the party this year which is one reason I am glad to have a birthday baby to share the party with every year and give the attention to someone else ๐Ÿ™‚

last pic of family of 5

    birthday cake

I have 3 siblings in Provo/Orem right now so we have had many a ‘gaming night’ and I am loving it. We play a lot of ‘Dominion’ and we have recently been into ‘Settlers’ again. I could game every night of the week – soo much fun. The siblings are also on the’ Nettesheim and Crew soccer team’ so we get to see them every Saturday for the soccer game and then if we offer food we can get them to come and stay for a couple of hours before they go back to college life. ร‚ย How can you not have fun when kids show up like this?…

    dumb and dumber

    my girls

Here are my girls. Cali is getting used to baby Rose and enjoys playing with anything that is ‘the babies’. We have 2 mornings a week when it is just the 3 of us girls. One of them is usually a trip to the store and the other a lazy morning with books.

    delicious

We have raspberry bushes in our garden and they are the best part of that garden. Packer tells me that the reason that some of them are golden is because they are golden raspberries – very smart 3 year old and still our little gardener.

    more raspberries

    Packer’s Joy School Costume Party:

    Packers Costume Parade

    Joy School is awesome

And Following is Cali throwing one of her fits. Her reaction to new baby has been to go into 3-4 whining fits per day… she simply decides she is not happy and then moans for the next 5-25 minutes until we get it figured out. Annoying – Yes. Time to break her of this fun habit – Yes.

    Typical FIT

Rose is growing like a weed!

    OCTOBER 21 = 20 days old

    pumpkin finders

Ra ra Ra Ra Ra! Go Red Dragons!

Fall Soccer Season is over! Benji, Ben and the Red Dragons had another good season. Hopefully next spring our eldest son will learn to go to the ball instead of stepping away from it.

    Benji - Fall Soccer 2010

And baby Rose with her Dad – – Ben was sick earlier this week and we locked him in the room so that we wouldn’t get it. It was a long couple of days without his help, he helps a lot in those hours between dinner and bedtime. ร‚ย We ALL missed our Dad time but are glad that we seem to have avoided the nasty sickies.

    Dad Time

DID YOU KNOW THAT IT IS OK FOR LITTLE GIRLS TO WEAR THEIR BIG BROTHERS OLD SWEATSHIRTS AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CUTE SHOES ON?

    Cute Shoes

    book pile

And since we spend A LOT of time in the house with baby Rose we have been reading a lot of books. Cali puts all of her books in her lap and then as she ‘reads’ each one she throws it on the floor. So we often have a book pile on the ground in front of the couch.

everyone getting in on book time

    sporting the Aunt Kelsey Blanket

Kelsey and I thought baby was sooo cute this day ๐Ÿ™‚ ( her mom thinks that every day!)

FIRST SNOW! Wednesday Oct. 27, It was beautiful!

And Last Night we had a relaxing night watching Game 1 of the World Series, taking turns holding Rose, reading a few books during commercials and eventually falling asleep in the 9th inning…

    Alaskans

John and Tracie are here! at our house!! spending the weekend with us!!!

Hangin' with Uncle John and Aunt Tracie

They moved to Alaska back in June 2009 and we miss them, luckily they have some flight privileges AND they are willing to sleep on airplanes so we have gotten to see them a few times.

    The whole crew at Dinner.

They came yesterday and we all (our family, them, Joel, Brady, and Kelsey) went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Tracie’s bday and the paying off of her student loan!! (she had a large loan from dental hygiene school and has already completely paid it off!! that is amazing – I am a proud sister ๐Ÿ™‚ My siblings have never been to the road house so they needed to experience the best rolls ever! We ate a ton of rolls. Our kids loved them too. Yummy. Benji and Packer each brought one home and had it for breakfast ๐Ÿ™‚

even water tastes good at a restaurant

    sweeet potatoes - fully loaded!

We finished off the night with a dance party in the Brady Van and then some Yorbing at Rock Canyon park. The kids and I were exhausted and came home around 9:30 to sleep.

    chillin in the bus!

The kids were impressed with the huge bouncy ball!!

Now it’s Sunday. Church is over. Kelsey came home sick ๐Ÿ™ and John and Tracie came home with a flat tire ๐Ÿ™ Hopefully the rest of the afternoon goes a little better. We’ve loved our visit from the Alaskans!

I guess it’s about time I give this new baby some blog time… ร‚ย ๐Ÿ™‚ ร‚ย I have been away from the blogging world on a little vacation in my own home. My mom is in town so I am enjoying being pampered and spoiled and letting her take care of all of us ๐Ÿ™‚ She leaves tomorrow ร‚ย ๐Ÿ™ ร‚ย so I decided I’d better blog now while I still have helping hands and still remember the details of this first week of Rose’s life: IT HAS ALREADY BEEN A WEEK! wow – that went way to fast…

LATE Friday night - Welcome to the world!

I will put details between pics but no one needs to read the details – they are very much for my very poor memory… I was scheduled to be induced Friday October 1st – I talked to the hospital 4 times on Thursday and they said to be ready for a call as early as 5:30 am because they start inducing at 6am. They said that I am being induced for medical reasons (high blood pressure) so I will be on the top of the call list. So… I did not sleep well Thursday night and I woke up early and ready and anxious… I had my mom come out from California because she had never seen a birth so she was here and I had my brothers stay the night ร‚ย in case it ended up being an early morning and then we just waited and waited and waited. We waited Robertson style – playing Take 2 and Dominion. I sent Ben to get me a storage bin to satisfy my last “nesting” desires and I had him fix the handle on the toilet – waiting for the phone to ring… 9am felt like 2pm because I had been up for hours. When I called the hospital just to see they said they were full and busy and would call me as soon as they could get a room and a nurse but for now they still had women in labor without rooms! So I went and played some more games. I had a tired, out of breath spell around 1pm but laid down for a while and felt better. Finally at 2:30pm the phone rang and it was the hospital – Mom, Ben and I jumped in the car and were off!! My other deliveries have been 4 hours or less so those were my expectations. I did have to wait for an antibiotic to get into my system so I was looking at the clock thinking that this little girl should be ready to be born by 9pm – SHE WASN’T – by 9pm I had witnessed a very bad BYU game, had asked for an epidural, had not dilated past a 3, and was feeling very nauseous and very tired (I had been waiting since 6am to have this baby ๐Ÿ™‚ ) I managed to block out the chit chat from my Dr and get a little rest around this time. The epidural was working but not magical like the other 2 times so I was uncomfortable and just waiting for that moment when the Dr decides that it is time to have the baby. At 11:20 he told me that the baby’s heart beat was dropping with each contraction – a sign that she is engaged and should be ready. He told me to wait 10 more minutes and then we’d go for it. At 11:30pm he decided it was baby time and started getting dressed and called the nurse in and … then he and my mom both looked down and saw the baby’s head!! No one panicked but they kicked it into high gear and got everything and everyone in place and then he told me not to push but to give a small ugh and that was it – Rose was born at 11:34pm, October 1st!! She was perfect and beautiful and MESSY and came out ready to eat. There were a couple happy parents in the room and a happy grandmother.

She has the big Nettesheim mouth.

That was way more info than I planned on writing – SORRY!

    SATURDAY - 4 generations!

We had a few visitors on Saturday including my grandparents and some of mine and Ben’s siblings. My sister even came down from Idaho to surprise us! Right before Priesthood session of conference my Dr. came in to tell me that Rose had a heart murmur and they would be doing another ultrasound and contacting the pediatric cardiologists at Primary Children’s…. that’s never what a mom wants to hear so I didn’t relax until they brought my baby back in and I kept her in my sights for the next several hours. She sure seems healthy so I decided my worrying wouldn’t do any good and am counting her has a healthy heart until told otherwise ๐Ÿ™‚

SUNDAY - ready to come home in her big car seat.

We came home late Sunday afternoon. The cardiologist wants to see her in 2 weeks but there didn’t seem to be anything alarming. My Brother and his family were at the house waiting to meet baby and Ben’s brother and family stopped by shortly after that. Rose seemed ok with the Chaos and with the attention.

    MONDAY - chillin at home.

She passed her jaundice test with a bruised foot to show for it ๐Ÿ™

TUESDAY - I've been a very alert little girl.

WEDNESDAY - getting used to Cali time.

THURSDAY - All wrapped up - meeting the puppets.

    FRIDAY October 8, 2010 - almost 1 week old!

We had a Dr apt. this morning and she is doing great. She is already gaining weight and showing no signs of heart problems, but the murmur is still very prominent and we meet with the cardiologist on the 18th just to be safe. She did the PKU test at the Dr.s office this morning and it is now 4pm and she is still zonked out – – that might mean trouble for tonight – hopefully not. She is so much fun to hold and snuggle and love. I am a proud momma ๐Ÿ™‚ We all love her so much and love having her in our family. Here’s one last collage of most of Rose’s visitors…

Lots of Visitors for Baby Rose!!!
