    This Is Halloween

Here’s our contribution to the collection of halloween posts.

We had a SUPER HERO Halloween, we all dressed up and we all had a lot of fun. Packer got a little grumpy but the threat of taking his costume off was enough to take care of that. Cali is a sucker-aholic, Packer eats candy at will, and Benji asks before he eats any little piece of it.

    Their smiles say it all!

After Trick or Treating the cousins all come over to play and see each others costumes. It has become a great tradition for us. I think the winner this year goes to Matt with his Prom King Hair (I didn’t get a picture – sorry).

They are all in character here having a great time - love it!

Anna, Claira, Mia and Cali-a I hope they are friends when they get older because they are just too cute.

    Pumpkin Picking

Looking for the perfect carving pumpkins.

And we only found time to carve 2 of them so far this year. Packer loves his little smiley pumpkin and Benji was sold on carving The Pumpkin King.

I declare today a LAZY day

with that declaration means that I will not even be trying to get dressed or clean house or look at my “to do list”. I do need to get my lesson finished up for Relief Society but that is the ONLY productive goal for the day. I have had a successful “lazy” morning. The kids and I are just vegging out. TV, books, singing, and kids running around. My baby needs me, hold on …  OK I’m back and I admit that I am still being lazy but… I did do the dishes and I had to get the kids some food.

My brother Josh and his wife and child came over last night! They are visiting from CA. We had dinner and watched football while playing ‘Ticket to Ride’,’ Nertz’, and ‘Hand and Foot’. The boys ran around with their cousin Payton and ended the night with a wrestling match. Cali went to bed early (smiley face) ( I don’t like the smileys that my blog does or else I would put one here). Ben joined us after Scouts. I love hanging out with family!

Yesterday was also Day O’ Boggle. It was Erica’s b-day and we are both on a Boggle kick so that is what we did. I did not win but I have improved my game in the last 2 weeks (another smiley face).

Packer is a crazy Orange eater. He wakes up begging for an orange. Most of the time I don’t have an orange to give him but when I do he is in orange heaven and eats it all plus a little peel. He is definitely in his terrible two’s. He whines instead of talks and is grumpy 50% of the day – we all hope this phase ends soon.

Benji is enjoying school, he loves the learning part and it seems to be helping socially. On Teddy Bear Day he didn’t have a teddy so I told him to choose a different animal to take. He ended up choosing the monkey because it looked most like a bear. He said that everyone laughed cause he didn’t bring a bear but that it was ok.Yesterdays story was that one of the girls told the other girl that she couldn’t play ‘ring around the rosy’ with them and so she was sad. hmmm.

And Cali is in the super cute stage. She is always smiling and laughing and climbing up and down the stairs and following the fun. She loves food but still nurses a little and I can finally just put her in her bed for naps and bedtime and with not too much fussing she falls asleep. She is fascinated with the balloon today and is getting steadier on her feet. She gets plenty of love around here.

    Halloween is over!

Looks like my blog has had a broken link for a while – sorry to all of my faithful readers that check everyday and were so distraught with the mistake!

Halloween was over because Packer broke Bob the Bird and was very sad and told me that Halloween was over now. Very sweet. Since that day we have had a broken “something”, ie candy bowl, scary hand… each day. We might not make it through this holiday with any of our decor left.

    I haven’t been a great blogger because:

    a) we had family in town over the weekend.

    b) I have been reading a book.

    c) I have discovered BOGGLE on the computer.

    d) I now own a HOT TUB!

WE HAD AN AWESOME CONFERENCE WEEKEND! My dad came to visit. And then Ryan, Joel and Shannon all came! And conference weekend is already the best so it was great. Dad was here to get my hot tub working! It was a 100$ tub that my dad got, brought out here from California and now with a few more dollars and a little work I was able to come home from basketball last night and soak in my tub – awwwee – so nice. I think I slept better too. The kids LOVE it too. We have gone “swimming” everyday and Cali even gets giddy when I get her swim diaper on her!

the hot tub is making us all a little tired

We played a few games over the weekend and I loved it. I love to game. Even when I don’t win. We played Aquaretto, Hand and Foot, Nertz, Hearts, and Settlers. Now everyone has gone home and I still want to play games… if any of my neighbors ever need to play a game I am always here – open invitation. In the mean time I have resorted to BOGGLE on the computer. Its fun and only 3 minutes a game if you have the will power to stop!

Here are pics of the yard. In July we extended our slab of cement in the back into a patio and we also cemented the side of the house/RV pad – no plans for an RV but we felt like it was wasted space and we are loving the cement there. Then we turned the sandbox into a hot tub pad and now we are set. I love the changes. Now I am working on getting Ben ready for another project or 2.

and when the Packers play against Brett Favre in MOnday NIght Football then it feels like MOnday is part of your weekend too. It was a rough loss BUT we enjoyed the game. I am still addicted to football this season but I am making an extra effort not to watch too many games in one weekend.

and Cali wore shoes for the first time ever! what a cutie. And I seem to have an excess of Halloween clothes in her size so she has been in a lot of orange and black already! lucky kid

    October is here!

We just went from Summer to COLD!
My kids like it. They are begging to wear their coats. This is Packer today – he already had his Halloween sweatshirt on but he NEEDED his Jacket too!

    IMG_0731

We broke out all of our Halloween decor yesterday – the kids get so excited and so does their Dad. They are really excited to do this new Halloween count down and eat candy every morning…

    IMGP4812

And we were glad to see our buddy “Bob the Bird” again…

    IMGP4820

and the “Little Man” is back . . .

104October 20091I don’t know why the kids would be scared of this guy!?

their Dad just leaves him in weird places all over the house and freaks us all out!

The cute part was when Cali got a hold of him . . .

104October 2009This girl might need a Dolly to play with.

So we are excited for Halloween. Costumes are already purchased. Kids are carrying their pumpkin buckets around. I’m excited to get to wear sweats and sweatshirts and hide my new rolls from my new favorite treat! Why do they have to put 48 in one package! These Costco Brownies are  my new weakness.

    YUM YUM YUM

    YUM YUM YUM

And my blow dryer just broke so I am living with WET HAIR and FREEZING! that is the one not fun thing about this weather change so far.

    More G.I. Joe Fun

When we played GI Joe I was often the only girl and I had my two GI Joe’s that were mine that were girls. I would play with the other Joes as well but my 2 were Lady Jaye and Jinx. Jinx is the Red Ninja and was always my favorite. In Our United Awesomers club ( you know you remember that Kevin and Than, Dan, Josh, Jared,) in the club my code name was Jyps, obviously taken from Jinx. Shannon was an excellent Jinx for the premiere and I tried to be Lady Jaye. In honor of my childhood the following pictures and reenactment were taken.

Here we thought that we would position the action figures and then position ourselves in the same pose. The figures kept falling over so this is what we got.IMG_0466

Last Night Packer slept in a big boy bed!!

Two Big Boys - this is how they requested the beds to be situated for now.

And Cali finally got a crib and said goodbye to the port-a-crib. I don’t have any girlie crib sets so she is bumper pad less for now – we’ll see if she gets any head bruises or if we are good to go as is.

IMG_0509We got to play with Pacen and Camry all day today and on Tuesday. My kids love having them here. They just play from the minute they wake up until Than comes to get them. I’m glad that Erica gets to go and be with her Mom and her family. It’s hard to see the pain that they are all going through and hard feeling like there isn’t much to do to help. Erica and I have been best friends since high school. We have spent a lot of time together. High school, sports, BYU, and now we live a mile apart and our kids are best friends. Her family is about as close as being my own family and vice versa as possible without blood relation or marriage. I know that Linda is strong but I just wish that I could take away all of the pain or a little of it. Anyway, I’m not a good sentimental writer so I’ll stop there. (Erica let your Mom know that we love her.)

Here are Cam and Pacen taking a picture for Mom and Grandma Linda.

IMG_0521and Benji had to take a picture. So here I am with my squinty eyes and my chubby cheek baby.

    The Demolition Derby

We went to the Utah County Demolition Derby last night! What is it about seeing cars ram each other that is just so amazing! If I didn’t have children I think I would enter the Powder Puff event. I’ve always wanted to drive into another car and smash stuff with no consequence and no injury. Good thing I didn’t find out about these Derby’s until 5 years ago, just after Benji was born. We have been every year since and we always have a great time. And we always say that we won’t bring the kids next time but… we always bring them.

I just found our previous years at the derby – here’s a flash back…

We added a trophy this year for the winner, the winner is whoever picks the most winning cars ( don’t worry, we have official rules and score cards for all of this.)

We got home late and were exhausted but it was fun and I’m glad that we carried on the tradition this year. And it was the first year that Benji didn’t plug his ears the whole time!
