Halloween is a BUSY day. We got the boys off to school and then I kicked it into high gear to get myself and the other 4 ready to go to the school to see all of the kids in their costumes. We got Cali off to preschool. MADE Raymond take a nap. Babysat Ellie and Anna. Right after school we hurried to Mozy for trick or treating with Dad. We came home from that and went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Then to see Grandma and Grandpa Becker. We had a few minutes at home to drop off candy and use the restroom and then Ben and the kids left to trick or treat and LaNell and Millie and I stayed home with the dogs and the candy bowl. We didn’t have as many trick or treaters at the new house. Then we left a little after 8pm to meet up with cousins at Pete and Amanda’s. We got the kids to bed at 10pm and crashed!!
A BUSY WEEK
We had a non-stop week. We had lots of fun things on the calendar and we did them all. Last Friday Night we had cousins night at our house. This is when the “local” cousins all come over for 4 hours so the parents can go out. The cousins have tons of fun hanging out and now that the kids are getting older Ben and I were able to sit back and watch the football game while all of the kids played.
The next day was the last day of fall soccer for Ben and the boys!! Packer got another goal and they stayed undefeated. Benji’s team got their first loss. We now have our Saturdays back and our Weds and Thursday evenings! That night we had our Annual showing of Charlie Brown, the great pumkin. We had lots of new neighbors come as well as family and some friends from our old ward. The hot chocolate was great, We had a few raffle prizes, the kids all had friends and cousins to be giddy with. The weather was good and it ended up being ok showing the movie in the driveway instead of on our too new to walk on sod.
Sunday was recovery day. We watched the Green Bay Packers that evening and finally made our caramel apples.
Monday was another party day. It was my brother Brady’s birthday so we had him and Sean and Joel and Megan over for dinner and pumpkin carving. Megan brought most of the dinner and it was soo good – we appreciate Joel bringing her into the family 🙂 After dinner was pumpkin time. Our kids had each picked the picture that they wanted to do on their pumpkin – usually Ben and I are up until midnight getting them all carved but this year we had lots of great helpers. Everyone paired up and helped our kids carve and it was a ton of fun. Joel and Megan helped Ray do a fun face. Ben helped Rose carve a Plants vs. Zombies Sun Flower. Brady and Cali did Hello Kitty. Packer and Casey did a Zombie. Benji and Sean did a minion. Shealyn did a halloween cat. I was on picture taking, baby tending, clean up…
Tuesday night we had a ward party at the church. Each family brings Candy and a game and the kids go crazy. We set up our soccer goal and hung the “little Man” and let the kids score a goal on it for a piece of candy. Ben and Raymond manned the station while I helped the kids make the rounds. The Young Men’s group made a spook alley but our kids were all to scared to try it. Other families did golf, bball, bean bags, rings, bouncy balls into a bucket, coloring, cotton candy, musical chairs… It was a fun night for the family and we got to interact with people from our new ward.
Wednesday night we went to check out the Halloween Train in Lindon. It is a small train at someone’s house and over the years it has gotten bigger and bigger. They took us on a train ride through lots of spooky alleys. It was fun and different. We went right when it opened so that the kids wouldn’t be scared. We still had lots of wide EYES but no tears.
And we made it to Halloween!!! SO EXCITING. We went to the boys school to see all of the costumes in the morning and then Cali got to get dressed up for her school. I’m thinking that day deserves it’s own post so this one is done! I like BUSY Weeks.
Rose is a big girl now!!! We knew it would happen someday and it did. She pretty much trained herself to use the toilet this month. I thought she was ready when she was 18 months old because she showed all the signs that the books tell you to look for and say they are ready… well she sat on the toilet a lot when she was little but she could never actually go to the bathroom on it. When she turned 2 and then 2 and 1/2 we thought she was going to be potty trained and again she loved sitting on the toilet but she never had success. I tried one more time in August before Millie was born but it was still a no go. Finally she turned 3 on october 1st and that is the magic number for my kids. All of my kids have waited until they turned 3 and then it’s been a pretty easy training experience. None of my kids have physically been able to figure it out before then. So Rose followed suit and the week that she turned 3 she started using the toilet. She tells me when she needs to go and i don’t have to ask every hour if she needs to go. She got lots of lip gloss and head bands and coloring books the first 3 days of successes and then she had to fill up her potty chart to be able to open her Dora Mega Blocks. So that is her story.
She has had a few accidents – usually when she is outside or in the basement and having too much fun to make it to the bathroom. She is usually dry in the mornings so i’m thinking she will be able to ditch the night time diaper soon (big sister is still working on that one.) Every time Rose goes to the bathroom Raymond follows her in and BUGS her the whole time! He gets out the training toilet to help. He gets into the TP. He slams the lid closed…. It’s really quite annoying. It’s crossed my mind to train him while we’re at it and I have let him sit on the toilet throughout the process but as history has proven he is not physically ready.
That is the potty story for Rose Kristine, our Tiny Dancer. One more thing to check off of my never ending list 🙂 We have recently crossed off learning to ride 2 wheelers. Benji finally learned to tie his shoes. Packer is starting to break through on his reading. Raymond is officially off of the bottle… next priority is getting Cali to make it through the night without a diaper…. here we go 🙂
Another fun month has come and gone:
