Summer Fun

We’re one week into summer. We have sun burns. We are tired. It has been fun.

 

I’ve always just taken it easy during the summer and let the kids do what they want… but this summer I was dreading the “I’m bored”s and the begging for electronics AND I was feeling a bit out numbered so… I have a chart for the kids to look at each morning and mark off when they are done. We are doing a couple pages of homework and 30 minutes of reading. They are doing a couple of chores around the house – usually working together. And I am trying to do a sport a week – just because I love sports and I think they should at least be exposed to them and this is cheaper and easier on me than trying to do a bunch of camps.

And if all goes well and mom has a little bit of energy then we can try and do something fun. This week we made it to the swimming pool (x2), Trafalga, and Heritage park with cousins.

Packer decided to be brave at Trafalga and actually went on the Light house and he tried Rock Climbing for the first time! Ray freaked out on the pirate boat. And I encouraged Benji to make it to the top of the rock wall. We did both mini golf courses and the kids loved it like usual.

 

No pictures of the swimming pool but the water has been warm and inviting. Millie is still getting used to ‘swimming’. The kids enjoyed playing in the little river at the park with cousins on Friday. The water was freezing but the little boat ended up being lots of fun:

We also have a super social neighborhood with lots of kids to play with. And our neighbors just put in a swing set with TONS of sand to dig in. It IS Grand Central Station and my kids are loving it. I’m sure I will eventually get pictures of that.

 

We also sent Benji and Ben off to Cub Day Camp this week and Packer started the STARS Summer Reading program at the school. The neighbors had another outdoor movie party and we had a cousins night on Saturday night. So it was a busy first week of summer and we’ve got big plans for this week too so I better sign off and get to bed 🙂

   

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!

I’m already sick of wet swim suits and changing kids in and out of them, and finding them on my carpet and hanging towels out to dry… This week was HOT and my kids have been playing in the baby pool and hose every day. Yesterday we added water balloons and water shooters. Friday Ben got out the slip n slide tarp for them also. I DO love summer weather. and I do love playing at home where the baby can nap and the snacks and drinks of water are plentiful and the restroom doesn’t involve me taking them or worrying if some wierdo is going to be in there. #excitedforsummer
