Another Great Week
The Hancock’s Are Back!
Than and Erica are back in Utah! and they live .5 miles from me! It’s all a little unreal still but we are excited to have our friends back. We had them over for Dinner on Thursday and helped them unpack on Friday. We left them alone on Saturday and let them babysit for us that evening. They stopped by on Sunday just like old times… Friends are Fun.
Leadership and Responsibility
Cali received the Leadership and Responsibility award at school in January!
As her teacher said, these are 2 areas that describe Cali perfectly.
Nice Job Cali!
Brady
end of wrestling
WRESTLING is over for the year. It was really good for Benji. He pushed himself more than he ever has and he seemed to excel with the hard work and busy schedule. He was definitely a beginner wrestler BUT he improved each time and he made some good friends and learned how to communicate with coaches and teammates.
We went to the AF tournament – the whole fam to support Benji!
Then January 22 Benji got to miss school and participate in the State Tournament!
Rodizio! for all his hard work.
New wrestling Shoes for Packer.
And Benj got a shirt with the names of all of the wrestlers on it that wrestled at this state meet.
cold, Cold, CoLd, COLD January
This Winter has been SO COLD! It has snowed more this winter than in all my 15+ Utah years combined. And when it’s not snowing it is FREEZING outside. So we are all cooped up. Trying to keep the kids happy and not give in to the january gloominess. I literally wake up most days thinking I just want to lay around in my warm sweats all day and do nothing. I think it is a blessing that that never happens π Here’s some of our January Fun:
Cub Scouts at the Temple:
Babysitting Bennett
A lazy Day:
Magformers:
Zooloretto with the Littles:
an almost warm enough day to go outside…
The Girls room
THE Bunk Bed
We have 4 boys and we’ve discussed putting all 4 boys in the same bedroom.
So when I realized on a Monday that Brady and Joel had the week off from work… I decided the QUAD BUNK needed to be built. We looked on pinterest and discussed ideas. I called a friend to come move the electrical outlets three feet up on the wall. We made a home depot run on Thursday and then an Ikea run that evening – Β just me and all 7 kids ( I was determined to be ready to go Friday morning). I stayed up that night priming the wood with Ben and got up Friday at 5am to paint. And then I put together the Ikea drawers because they were about the same price as buying and building the pre-made’s at home depot. Then Joel and Brady helped me finish the drawers and we jumped right in to building the frame!
Ryan heard we were doing a project and couldn’t be left out of building something fun so he brought his family down for a Friday night party/sleepover and on Saturday he was the mastermind behind the stairs and trap doors. Ryan and Brady built the stairs on Saturday. Megan and Kelsey helped me pick out the final touches to make it look complete.
I made a few trips to Home Depot.
I love how it turned out. The kids are loving it. I still need to FINISH it – paint, caulk, putty, finish the platform. Hopefully I will tackle that sooner than later.
We sat down and watched the Green Bay Playoff game that night. They almost pulled off the miracle come back but not this year… π (Ben held Tiago most of the game for good luck)
My kids definitely felt neglected after 2 days of me being the “bunk bed boss” and a not very involved mom π so, I can’t do projects very often but it sure was fun. Especially fun with so much help from family and friends.
We had everyone over again on Sunday so we could sit and look at our finished project π
