Monday morning we pulled into Juneau Alaska!

We met up with Mom and Dad and Pete and Amanda and rode the Roberts Tram straight up the side of the mountain:

The views were amazing! and then we went in and learned about the local tribal people and their history.

We really wanted to see a bear but this stuffed one was all we saw. And they had an injured Bald Eagle. We saw dozens of Bald Eagles! They were in the tall trees by the tram and all over the town.

    We hiked the nature loop!

and enjoyed the view from way up above. And tasted the Salmon Berries.

We made it back to the Nature Center, measured our wing span and sat in the Eagle Nest and found the last carved tree.

We rode the tram back down and still had most of the day in front of us. Mom and Dad went shopping and Amanda and I went and talked to the hundreds of people trying to get us to do “their” excursion. I wanted to see the Mendenhall Glacier. Amanda wanted to fly in a sea plane. So we went Whale watching! We did the glacier and Whales.

A shuttle took us out to Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls. It was a short hike over to see them.

At 5:00 we met our next shuttle to take us to the Whale Watching Boat.

They drove us out a ways and told us to look for the spout by the shore line. Then when they would see a whale they’d go over, 100 yards away was the rule, and let us all watch and go crazy with delight. We would see the spout, then the back, then the back a few more times and then we’d see the tale and the boat would go in search of another whale.

The hunt was as fun as seeing them. There were a dozen boats all out following each other around. I was hoping to see a face or head but we did not. These were Humpback Whales. They were about 45 feet long.

We got a close up of these sea lions while we were out! and we got lots of stories and history while on the boat and in the shuttles.

We got dropped off after 8pm and headed for the ship. These bald eagles were hanging out in the tree near the ship! and we chatted the night away with family! A Great Day in Alaska.

we checked in and checked out the ship:

We enjoyed dining and I even tried Salmon.

Sunday was a day at sea while we traveled North to Alaska.

And Monday morning we woke up early to see anything we could see as we got close to Juneau

    INBETWEEN

After Fort Bragg we had a week until Ben and I were going on our Alaskan Cruise. And only a few days before company was coming. We cleaned up from camping and then had a few days before Ryan and Mary and their kids came to visit.

What do you pack for a cruise to Alaska?

I got to go to the temple!

And then the cousins came! We went to TRAFALGA: Millie is hilarious on the frog hopper! All of the arcades were free. The older cousins played Laser Tag. It was too hot to mini golf but we did anyway. The boys and Cali rode the go carts and everyone tried the bumper boats!

On Friday we all went to 7 Peaks!!

Grandma and Tracie came to take care of our kids! And the night before we left Cali was in tons of pain with her braces until we let Tracie work her magic and pull the wire back where it belonged.

Saturday morning Ben and I said goodbye and headed for the airport! We were on the same flight to Seattle as mom and Dad, Schy and Em and Mich and Udine. Ready for our Alaska Adventure!!

We have so many pictures from this vacation. My parents and all 12 of us kids were there. We were missing one brother in law and 2 nephews. So we had 45 of us! Yes, we stayed in the group site –  at MacKerricher. The campsite was perfect for us. We camped in our tents and put quarters in to shower. The kids played so hard! There were very few rules, tons of cousins and tons of play time. They rode bikes, went fishing, walked to the beach. They played games and explored. I chatted with siblings and in law siblings and chatted with nieces and nephews. I sat by the fire with my parents and just watched everyone around us have a great time. I LOVED IT. 1,000 pics coming your way:

Banana Slugs! I have a specific memory of banana Slugs in Fort Bragg. Putting Salt on them near the water faucet…

Setting Up Camp! Boys tent, girls tents, and base camp.

Dinner Time: We had one big kitchen and dining area. I loved having the cooking and cleanup chart and not being in the kitchen much. I loved meal time with the whole family.

    First campfire and goodnight hugs.

Ben walked down to the beach with these munchkins on the first day. The black sand beach is right at the campground. So many memories…

The babies love this play pen!

Playing camp games! and the swing! and the littles just loved playing in my tent.

GLASS BEACH! I am one of the guilty ones. I brought home way to many jars of glass in my childhood and now there isn’t much left for the world to enjoy. Oops.

    Campfire Fun:

Ray swelled up from mosquito bites 🙁

Fun at 10 Mile Beach that we have always called Sand Dollar beach: Millie’s face made the 14 hour drive worth it!

Back at camp with the swing, whale bones, and racoon!

This is the whole group heading over to Secret beach and John caught some cool pictures of the water.

Kid Version of Kanjam. Bren and Ray! and Tiago

Tiago didn’t want Ben and I to play spikeball but Christy distracted him with juice.

We went to the tide pools early one morning! We found a few star fish and crabs and shells and seals and…

    I love a good campfire.

Ray and Bren played for hours at the beach:

    Starting to get worn out….

Mendocino! Rose went with cousins while we went to the beach:

This was Packers favorite part of 10 Mile Beach:

and the coocoo bird that woke me up every morning:

The girls practicing for the talent show, crab and wrestling:

the Tweeners and Teens loved being in the water, Toddlers loved the sand:

    Talent Show:

DIP DIP DIP – DIPITY DIPITY DIP!

    Goodbye to Kevin and Liz:

    Another afternoon at the beach:

And back to camp. hanging out, playing games, snuggling babies, and dressing up like stick people:
