Now we’d been asked to keep gatherings to 10 or less and to Stay at home as much as possible!
March 16 and 17 the kids were home but the teachers hadn’t had time to prep any home schooling so we had play and prep days! It was good to be home and get organized and so weird not to be able to or need to do anything on our normal schedule. No work, no school, no sports , no play practice, no tutoring, no institute, no visits or youth nights, NOTHING!
I cleared off the magnet board to make a new home plan! The kids PLAYED SCHOOL! Art Class, Drama, PE, Robotics – you know, the fun subjects:
Tuesday was St Patricks Day!
SOCIAL DISTANCING?? establising our rules…
Ben made yummy Reuben Sandwiches and Shamrock Shakes!! and I made the Green Lime Cake for Lunch!
HOME CHURCH was pretty awesome! Ben and the kids waited for me and they had everything planned. After dinner we had sacrament meeting and then Primary!
It was really nice having church as a family. Sacrament was sacred and spiritual. And not wearing shoes really wasn’t even the best part. This family is the best!
Ben worked from home – to babysit and to stay away from the office to not spread germs. These guys went to the theater and watched Onward! and Cali played her last indoor game adn Ben made some creative foods on our corona food storage stash.
On Sunday the kids kept asking when I would be home so Ben finally put it on the TV for them to track my phone location:
And when I finally got home at 6:30 they were all waiting for me at the corner!
These girls are all turning 40 this year so I had to help them celebrate!
Erica and LaNell and I drove down Thursday after school. We got to Katie’s and unloaded and hot tubbed and stayed up LATE chatting. Then on Friday at noon after our morning pickleball we went and got Angelee at the airport! Katie Ritchie decided not to chance the Corona infested Seatle airport so we just had to facetime her 🙁 We spent the rest of the weekend TALKING and being silly and enjoying each others company and some yummy food and hot tub and massage chair. A little Nertz and Gifts and catching up on life and NEW MEMORIES too!
Katie let us have some of her Gem Collection – mine are women parts and brain power! And by Sunday when we drove home we were all a little worried about Corona and being home safe with our families and figuring out how homeschooling would go. Lots of unknowns in the air still – But Church had been cancelled and all activities and groups of less than 50 so we didn’t go to our concert. It was a great weekend with great friends. We used to talk about trips like this when we were 15 yrs old!
Well, one day you don’t care and thenthe next day you care A LOT. China had teh Corona in December – we found out in January but it didn’t seem to threatening and then on the 10th and 11th of March it started feeling like something we should prepare for and think about. Toilet paper disappeared and so did bottled water! We did check our food storage and meds and cleaning supplies and make sure we had what we might need.
So March 10th is when we started hearing about this new sickness and the idea of SOCIAL DISTANCING to try to flatten the curve and the effect it would have in the USA and in the world!
On Monday March 9, we went to Uncle Larry’s funeral! He died from complications and infection after removing his stomach that had cancer.
It was a nice service – just didn’t seem right that he was gone though. Ben took care of the kids and let me be with family. Ben helped with the background music. I spent a lot of the day with Christy and Michael. Now we are just praying for this group of boys and Carol that have to do this life without Larry now 🙁
March 7th – after the baptism party we had to go out for dinner cause Mom was here taking care of Sean and Jana and babies. Dad and Michael were driving in for the funeral and we were all already together for the baptism. So we headed to Slackwater – Shannons fav.
