Grandma passed away on November 26th. She had been slowly declining and finally left us on an early Saturday morning. We had every intention of going to the funeral. Grandma was so great and so loving to all of us. They planned the funeral on a Tuesday morning in the Middle of Ben’s Monday thru Wednesday Strategy Retreat with all of the Executives. We were so bummed.

We watched the funeral. All 4 of her children spoke, (Jeff passed away years ago.) It was a beautiful tribute to an amazing Grandma, mom, sister, friend! SHE LIVED 99 YEARS! We miss you Grandma.

    My notes from the funeral:

Identifying! Grandma Virginia Nettesheim: (Heidi)Be dependable. Keep commitments and do it with a smile. Partnership and covenants. Love family unconditionally. Family is the most important. Eclesiastes 3: a time and season! (Mark) 1966 – baptism of him, Heidi and mom and he failed 2nd grade. Supporter behind the scenes, by example. No lectures. Light on scripture reading, time and season, God Be With You Till We Meet Again (Schmidt’s). (Dan) quality! Motivated with love. Obsessed w family – a piece of her in each of you. Thankful for blessings. Happy positive attitude – Dan’s story of his negative influence on other 6th graders, use your natural born leadership as a gift from God. Empathy, Encouraging, Example. Religion – Jesus Christ. (Rick) self contained unit. No excuses. She accepted all individuals, interested, kind advice, come unto me. Mantra: we are what we are. Your choices dictate the person you become. Shared our comments. Gospel death.

Ben had a 3 day work conference. I went up for the shooting and dinner – I ended up being the only spouse there 🙂 It was fun to learn the guns and the machine gun was pretty intense!

Wrestling at Westlake – Joel and Megan moving out and in to Megan’s parents basement.

I coached Cali’s FIRST basketball game! She did great and has a fun team! Brady and Sam and Kelsey came too.

That night I got to go out with the neighborhood Ladies – Kristin Drake planned a Soul Sisters dinner for all of us in Midway – dinner at the snow globe restaurants and shared our favorite quotes. Sarah Familia and Michelle Kramer were the only two not in our ward and I know them pretty well so it was a super fun night. Kristin is so loving and giving and kind and inclusive.

We babysat Sean’s kids. And we had our ward party! We did some activities and crafts and had a nice dinner. Then a program – Benji got to be Joseph Smith! and then Bishop was sick so Ben got to speak to the ward with an uplifting Christmas message and testimony. He does a good job on the fly like that!

Grandma Nettesheim passed away on Saturday November 26th. We were not surprised but it’s still hard to let them go and know that you will never see them again. Grandma was very candid and giving and kind. I hope we all get a piece of her to carry forward and pass down in this life.
