Back to CA for the Funeral
On Wednesday February 24th we packed up the van and drove to California to be there for the Funeral. We drove straight to Oroville to Kevin and Liz’s house – FIRST ones there!
About an hour outside of Oroville the van started acting up! It made some loud clunks and it was having a hard time shifting. We were maxed out at 55mph on the back roads of berry creek, no cell service and getting a little worried. We did make it to Kevins house so – – so grateful to not be stranded in the middle of Nevada somewhere! So we unloaded the van and then ran it down to John Hancocks to get a diagnosis. He said that it was Transmission – the transmission shop was already closed for the day so we had to wait and take it in on Thursday morning. So – – Thursday morning, we dropped it off at the shop. Thursday afternoon they diagnosed that the transmission was shot. Parts were disintegrated. They would rebuild it for 3,500-4,000. We left it in the shop and bummed rides off of everyone for the weekend. We figured we wouldn’t make it home Sunday as planned but really just needed to be home for Lily’s wedding on Thursday.
We checked back in on Monday morning and it wasn’t done but it was coming along and should be done that evening! And it was. We got the van back at 5:00 Monday so we could drive home Tuesday!
